3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

The D'Addario Eclipse Tuner comes with a CR2032 battery included. Before first use, ensure any protective plastic tabs preventing battery contact are removed. If replacing the battery, gently open the battery compartment and insert a new CR2032 battery with the positive (+) side facing up.

3.2 Attaching the Tuner

1. Locate a suitable clamping point on your instrument. For cello and double bass, attach the tuner to the lower-strings side of the bridge for optimal accuracy. For other instruments, the headstock is a common and effective placement.
2. Press the lever-lock clamp to open the jaws.
3. Position the tuner securely on the instrument, ensuring good contact for vibration detection. The rubberized grips prevent marring the instrument's finish.
4. Adjust the tuner's display using the multi-swivel action to achieve a comfortable viewing angle.

4. Operation

4.1 Powering On/Off

• To power on the tuner, press and hold the central power button.
• To power off the tuner, press and hold the central power button again.
• The tuner will automatically power off after 10 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life.

4.2 Tuning Your Instrument

1. Once the tuner is powered on and securely attached, pluck a single string on your instrument.
2. The tuner's display will show the detected note and indicate whether it is sharp (too high), flat (too low), or in tune.
3. Adjust the tuning peg of the corresponding string until the note displayed on the tuner matches your desired pitch and the indicator shows it is in tune (typically a green or central indication).
4. Repeat this process for all strings until your instrument is fully in tune.

To adjust the tuner's calibration (A4 frequency), use the up and down arrow buttons located next to the power button. The calibration range is from 430Hz to 450Hz. The standard pitch for A4 is 440Hz.
