1. Introduction and Product Overview

The SimPure Whole House Spin Down Sediment Filter is designed as a first defense pre-filtration system for your home's water supply. It effectively prevents contaminants such as sediment, debris, rust, calcium deposits, and sand granules from entering your plumbing system and appliances. This reusable filter system helps ensure cleaner water for drinking and cooking, while also extending the lifespan of downstream water purifiers, water heaters, washing machines, and other water-related equipment.

2. Product Components

The SimPure DC5P-40/200 filter system includes the following components:

• 1 x Spin Down Sediment Filter (includes 40µm filter element)
• 1 x Extra 200µm Filter Element
• 2 x 1"-3/4" Adapters
• 1 x Wrench for housing removal
• 3 x Sealing Gaskets
• 1 x Sewage Drain Pipe

3. Setup and Installation

The SimPure Whole House Water Filter is supplied with 1" Male NPT, 3/4" Female NPT, and 3/4" Male NPT connections, making it suitable for various threaded connectors. Ensure you purchase any necessary threaded connectors (not included) according to your copper, PEX, or CPVC water pipe specifications.

It is highly recommended to install shut-off valves on both the inlet and outlet sides of the filter system. This allows for easy isolation of the filter for maintenance without disrupting the entire water supply to your home. Apply Teflon tape to all threaded connections to ensure a watertight seal.

For optimal performance and to prolong the life of your main filtration system, install this spin-down sediment filter as the first stage of filtration for your incoming water supply.

4. Operating Instructions

The filter operates by allowing water to flow through a stainless steel mesh filter, trapping sediment and other impurities. The transparent screen filter bowl allows for visual inspection of the accumulated sediment.

The filter is designed for a flow rate of 20 GPM. The 40µm filter is best suited for municipal (tap) or city water. If using with well or lake feed water, you may opt to replace it with the included 200µm filter element to reduce the frequency of flushing, as finer meshes can clog more quickly with higher particulate loads.

5. Maintenance

The SimPure filter features a flushable and reusable design, allowing for easy backwash without disassembly. To flush the filter, simply open the valve at the bottom of the unit. This purges accumulated sediment. For a more thorough cleaning, the filter element can be removed and brushed off. The frequency of cleaning depends on the particulate load in your water, typically every 3 to 6 months or when a noticeable drop in water volume occurs.

6. Troubleshooting

If you experience a significant drop in water pressure or flow, it is likely due to a clogged filter element. Perform a flush as described in the Maintenance section. If the issue persists, remove the filter element for manual cleaning or consider replacing it if heavily fouled. Ensure all connections are properly sealed with Teflon tape to prevent leaks.
