Introduction
The Lenovo ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Workstation Dock Gen 2 is designed to enhance productivity by expanding connectivity options for your ThinkPad Mobile Workstation. Setup
1. Unboxing and Initial Inspection
Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all included accessories are present: the ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Workstation Dock Gen 2 unit, 230W power adapter and power cord, Thunderbolt Split Cable (5C10V25713), Slim Tip Y-Cable (5C10V25716), and the setup/user guide.
2. Connecting the Dock to Power
Connect the 230W power adapter to the dock's power input port and then plug the power cord into an electrical outlet. Ensure the power connection is secure.
3. Connecting to Your ThinkPad Workstation
Use the provided Thunderbolt Split Cable and Slim Tip Y-Cable to connect the dock to your ThinkPad Mobile Workstation. This single connection provides power, data, and video signals to your laptop.

4. Connecting External Displays
The dock features 2x DisplayPort and 2x HDMI ports. Connect your external monitors to these ports using appropriate cables. The dock supports up to 3 external displays, including a Thunderbolt monitor, with resolutions up to 4K. Display resolution depends on both laptop and dock capability.
5. Connecting Peripherals
Connect your USB devices (keyboard, mouse, external drives, etc.) to the available USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports. The dock includes 5x USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports, with one providing always-on mobile device charging. Connect your network cable to the Gigabit Ethernet port for a stable wired internet connection. Use the 3.5mm stereo/mic combo port for audio input/output.

Power Delivery
The dock delivers power to compatible ThinkPad notebooks. Depending on the model, it can provide up to 135W or 65W of power through the Thunderbolt connection. The dock itself uses a 230W power adapter, ensuring sufficient power for all connected devices and charging.
Display Configuration
The dock supports up to three external displays simultaneously. Connect monitors to the DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 ports. Ensure your laptop's graphics card and operating system are configured to extend or duplicate displays as desired.
USB Connectivity
Utilize the five USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports for high-speed data transfer (up to 10 Gbps). One of these ports supports always-on mobile device charging, allowing you to charge your smartphone or other devices even when your laptop is off or disconnected.
