Installation Steps:

  1. Prepare the Installation Area: Ensure the mounting surface is clean and free of debris. Turn off the main water supply to prevent leaks during installation.
  2. Mount the Tap: Insert the threaded shaft of the tap through the mounting hole on your basin or countertop.
  3. Secure the Tap: From underneath the basin, place the rubber washer, then the metal washer, and finally thread the mounting nut onto the shaft. Tighten the nut securely by hand, then use a wrench to ensure a firm, stable installation. Do not overtighten.
  4. Connect Water Supply: Connect the water supply line to the threaded inlet on the underside of the tap. Ensure a watertight seal using appropriate plumbing tape or sealant if necessary.
  5. Check for Leaks: Once all connections are made, slowly turn on the main water supply and check for any leaks around the tap base and connections. Tighten any leaking connections as needed.

7. Operating Instructions

The Ibergrif M21901 tap operates with a simple push-button mechanism. Pressing the button activates the water flow, which then automatically stops after a preset duration.

Adjusting the Flow Duration:

The self-closing mechanism's flow duration can be adjusted to suit your preference. This adjustment is typically done via a screw located under the push-button cap.

  1. Remove the Cap: Carefully pry off the small plastic cover on the back of the push-button using a small flat tool or a paperclip.
  2. Access the Grub Screw: This will reveal a small Allen grub screw. Use a very small Allen key to loosen this screw.
  3. Remove the Push Button: Once the grub screw is loosened, the entire push-button assembly can be removed.
  4. Adjust the Timer Screw: In the center, you will find a slotted screw.
    • Turning the screw clockwise will shorten the water flow duration.
    • Turning the screw counter-clockwise will lengthen the water flow duration.

Caution: Do not turn the screw too far counter-clockwise, as it may come out and expose you to water pressure.

  5. Test and Reassemble: Test the flow duration after each adjustment. Once satisfied, reassemble the push-button, tighten the grub screw, and replace the plastic cover.

8. Maintenance

Cleaning the Tap:

The chrome finish of your Ibergrif tap is designed to be scratch-resistant and easy to clean. To maintain its appearance:

  • Use a soft cloth and mild soap or a non-abrasive cleaner specifically designed for chrome finishes.
  • Wipe the tap dry immediately after cleaning to prevent water spots.
  • Avoid using abrasive sponges, scouring pads, or harsh chemical cleaners, as these can damage the finish.

Cleaning the Aerator:

Periodically, the aerator may become clogged with mineral deposits, reducing water flow. The integrated NEOPERL water-saving aerator can be cleaned as follows:

Figure 8.1: Location of the water-saving aerator.

  1. Unscrew the aerator from the spout of the tap. This can usually be done by hand or with a specialized aerator wrench.
  2. Rinse the aerator screen under running water to remove any loose debris.
  3. If mineral deposits are present, soak the aerator in a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water for 30 minutes to an hour.
  4. Use a small brush (like an old toothbrush) to gently scrub away any remaining deposits.
  5. Rinse thoroughly and reattach the aerator to the tap, ensuring it is securely tightened to prevent leaks.
