4. Installation
Follow these steps to install the Ibergrif M20509W Easy Clean Basin Waste:
- Prepare the Sink: Ensure the sink's drain hole is clean and free of debris.
- Assemble the Waste Body: Place one sealing washer onto the top flange of the waste body. Insert the waste body through the drain hole from the top of the sink.
- Secure from Below: From underneath the sink, place the second sealing washer onto the threaded part of the waste body, followed by the locking nut. Hand-tighten the locking nut initially.
- Connect to P-Trap: Connect your existing P-trap or waste pipe to the threaded outlet of the basin waste. Ensure a watertight seal using appropriate plumbing sealant or washers as required by your local plumbing codes.
- Tighten Connections: Use a wrench to carefully tighten the locking nut and the P-trap connection. Do not overtighten.
- Install Pop-Up Stopper: Insert the pop-up stopper into the waste body. The fixing screw should align with the central hole in the waste body.

Test for Leaks: Once installation is complete, turn on the water supply and fill the sink. Check carefully for any leaks around the drain connections. If leaks are detected, gently tighten the connections further until the leak stops.
5. Operation
The Ibergrif M20509W basin waste features a simple push-button pop-up mechanism for easy water control.
- To Close the Drain: Gently press the center of the ceramic stopper. The stopper will click into the closed position, sealing the drain and allowing the sink to fill with water.
- To Open the Drain: Press the center of the ceramic stopper again. The stopper will pop up, opening the drain and allowing water to flow out of the sink.
6. Maintenance
Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and proper function of your basin waste.
- Routine Cleaning: Clean the visible parts of the waste with a soft cloth and mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the chrome finish and ceramic surface.
- Easy Clean Feature: The pop-up stopper is designed for easy removal to facilitate cleaning of accumulated hair and debris. Simply pull the stopper straight up to remove it from the waste body. Clean the stopper and the inside of the waste body, then reinsert the stopper by aligning it and pushing it down until it clicks into place.
- Check for Leaks: Periodically inspect the connections underneath the sink for any signs of leaks. Tighten connections if necessary.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your basin waste, refer to the following common solutions:
- Slow Draining: This is often caused by hair and debris accumulation. Remove the pop-up stopper as described in the Maintenance section and clean any obstructions from the drain.
- Drain Not Sealing: Ensure the pop-up stopper is fully pressed down. Check for any debris preventing a complete seal. If the issue persists, remove the stopper and inspect the sealing washers for damage or misalignment.
- Leaks from Connections: Turn off the water supply. Gently tighten the locking nut underneath the sink and the connection to the P-trap. Ensure all washers are correctly seated. If leaks persist, you may need to replace the sealing washers.
- Stopper Not Popping Up/Down: Ensure the mechanism is free of debris. If the stopper feels stiff, a small amount of silicone grease can be applied to the moving parts (ensure it is plumbing-safe).
