1. Introduction
The Aeotec Range Extender 7 is a Z-Wave Plus certified device designed to enhance the performance and range of your Z-Wave smart home network. It acts as a signal repeater, amplifying and repeating weak Z-Wave and Z-Wave Plus signals to eliminate dead zones and improve communication reliability between your Z-Wave hub and connected devices. Built upon Aeotec's Gen7 hardware, it supports 700 series Z-Wave and Z-Wave Plus V2, including the repetition of S2 security signals.

The device is designed to operate continuously when plugged in, providing a stable and robust Z-Wave mesh network. Its compact size allows it to be discreetly placed in various locations without obstructing other outlets.
6. Maintenance
The Aeotec Range Extender 7 is a plug-in device and does not require batteries. For maintenance, simply ensure the device remains plugged into a functional power outlet and is free from physical obstructions. You may periodically wipe the device with a dry, soft cloth to keep it clean.
7. Troubleshooting
If you experience Z-Wave connectivity issues with devices, consider the following:
- Range Limitations: The Range Extender 7 is specifically designed to overcome range limitations. If a device is too far from your hub, placing the extender between them can significantly improve connectivity.
- Pairing Issues: Ensure your Z-Wave hub is in inclusion mode when attempting to pair the extender. If issues persist, try excluding the device first (if it was previously paired) and then re-including it.
- Network Interference: While Z-Wave operates on a different frequency than Wi-Fi, other electronic devices can sometimes cause interference. Try relocating the extender or the problematic Z-Wave device.
- Hub Compatibility: Ensure your Z-Wave hub is compatible with Z-Wave Plus and S2 security for optimal performance. The Range Extender 7 is compatible with most certified Z-Wave gateways, including SmartThings, Hubitat, Alarm.com, Ring, Control4, Fibaro, Vera UI7, Homey, Domoticz, Jeedom, Open-zwave, and Zipato.
