3. Setup

3.1. System Requirements

Ensure your computer meets the following minimum requirements:

• Operating System: Windows 7 or higher (32/64 bit), macOS 10.7 or higher.
• Available USB 2.0 or 3.0 port.
• Compatible DAW software (e.g., Steinberg Cubase, Avid Pro Tools, Apple Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Reaper, Bitwig Studio, FL Studio).

3.2. Driver Installation

1. Download the latest drivers for your operating system from the official RME website.
2. Install the drivers following the on-screen instructions.
3. Restart your computer if prompted.

3.3. Hardware Connection

1. Connect the Babyface Pro FS to your computer using the provided USB cable.
2. Connect the DC power adapter if additional power is required or for standalone operation.
3. Connect your microphones to the XLR inputs (IN 1/2) on the rear panel.
4. Connect instruments (e.g., guitar, bass) to the 1/4-inch jack inputs (IN 3/4) on the side panel.
5. Connect your studio monitors to the XLR outputs (OUT 1/2) on the rear panel.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Power On/Off

The Babyface Pro FS powers on automatically when connected via USB to a powered computer or when the DC adapter is connected. There is no dedicated power button.

4.2. Front Panel Controls

• Main Control Knob: Adjusts output levels, input gain, and navigates menus.
• SELECT Button: Toggles between different parameters (e.g., input gain, output level, menu options).
• DIM Button: Instantly reduces the main output level by a preset amount for temporary volume reduction.
• Display: Shows input/output levels, current settings, and menu navigation.

4.3. Input Gain Adjustment

Use the SELECT button to choose the desired input channel (e.g., IN 1/2 for XLR, IN 3/4 for instrument). Rotate the Main Control Knob to adjust the gain for the selected input. Monitor the input level on the display to avoid clipping.

4.4. Output Level Control

The Main Control Knob primarily controls the main output level (OUT 1/2) and headphone outputs. Press SELECT to switch between controlling main outputs and headphone outputs.

4.5. TotalMix FX Software

The Babyface Pro FS integrates with RME's TotalMix FX software, providing a powerful digital mixer for all input and output channels. This software allows for zero-latency monitoring, advanced routing, and effects processing. Refer to the TotalMix FX manual for detailed usage instructions.

6.1. Cleaning
