Setup and Installation
Follow these steps for proper installation of your drip irrigation system:
- Connect the Brass Two-way Splitter: Attach the brass splitter to your outdoor faucet. Ensure a tight connection to prevent leaks. The splitter features individual on/off switches for each line.
- Prepare the Tubing: Unroll the 1/4'' black distribution tubing. For easier connection, especially in cooler temperatures, immerse the ends of the tubing in hot water for a few seconds to make them more pliable.
- Layout the Tubing: Plan the layout of your irrigation system. Run the main tubing from the brass splitter to the areas where you intend to water plants.
- Install Tee-connectors: Cut the tubing at desired points and insert tee-connectors to create branches for individual plants or sections. Ensure the tubing is firmly pushed onto the barbs of the connectors.
- Attach Drip Emitters: Connect the blue adjustable drip emitters to the ends of the tubing branches. The emitters come with support stakes for easy placement in the soil next to your plants.
- Secure Connections: After all connections are made, ensure they are secure. If any connections feel loose or leak, re-immerse the tubing end in hot water and re-attach firmly. For persistent issues, small hose clamps (not included) can be used for added security.

Operating Instructions
Once installed, operating your HIRALIY Drip Irrigation Kit is straightforward:
- Turn on Water Supply: Open your outdoor faucet.
- Control Water Flow with Splitter: Use the butterfly-shaped switches on the brass two-way splitter to control the water flow to each independent drip line. This allows you to water different areas simultaneously or individually.
- Adjust Drip Emitters: The blue emitters are adjustable. Rotate the cap to change the water output from a complete stop to a micro-drip, or various spray patterns (small, medium, large spray). Adjust each emitter according to the specific water needs of the plant it serves.
- Water Pressure: For optimal performance, a water pressure of more than 40 psi is recommended. If water pressure is too high, it may cause connections to loosen or emitters to spray excessively. If pressure is too low, emitters may not function correctly. Adjust the faucet valve to regulate overall system pressure if needed.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficiency of your drip irrigation system:
- Inspect for Leaks: Periodically check all connections and tubing for any leaks or damage. Tighten connections as needed.
- Clean Emitters: If an emitter's flow is reduced or blocked, gently clean it. Some emitters can be disassembled for cleaning.
- Tubing Care: Avoid placing heavy objects on the tubing. Protect tubing from sharp edges or excessive sun exposure if possible, as prolonged heat can soften the material.
- Winterization: Before the first frost, drain all water from the system to prevent freezing and damage. Disconnect the brass splitter and store all components in a dry, protected area.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Leaks at connections | Tubing not fully seated; high water pressure; tubing softened by heat. | Ensure tubing ends are softened in hot water before connecting. Push tubing firmly onto barbs. Reduce water pressure at the faucet. Consider using small hose clamps for added security. |
| Uneven water distribution / Emitters not dripping | Low water pressure; clogged emitters; emitter adjustment. | Ensure water pressure is above 40 psi. Clean emitters. Adjust emitter caps to desired flow. Check for kinks in tubing. |
| Tubing blows off connectors | Excessive water pressure; tubing not securely attached. | Reduce water pressure at the faucet. Re-attach tubing after softening ends in hot water. Use small hose clamps (e.g., 1/4" irrigation hose clamps) for a more secure fit. |
| No water flow | Faucet off; splitter valve closed; kinked tubing; clogged filter (if used). | Ensure faucet is fully open. Check splitter valves are open. Inspect tubing for kinks. Clean any inline filters. |
