5. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to connect your AIMOS KVM Switch:

  1. Connect Monitor: Connect your HDMI monitor to the KVM switch's HDMI OUT port.
  2. Connect Keyboard and Mouse: Connect your USB keyboard and mouse to the dedicated USB ports on the KVM switch (usually labeled with keyboard and mouse icons or USB 1/2).
  3. Connect USB Peripherals: If you have other USB devices (e.g., printer, USB drive), connect them to the USB HUB ports.
  4. Connect Computers: For each computer you wish to connect (up to 4):
    • Connect an HDMI cable from the computer's HDMI output to an HDMI IN port on the KVM switch (e.g., HDMI 1, HDMI 2).
    • Connect one of the provided USB cables from a USB port on the computer to the corresponding USB IN port on the KVM switch (e.g., USB 1 for PC 1, USB 2 for PC 2). These USB connections provide power and transmit keyboard/mouse signals.
  5. Power On: The KVM switch is typically powered via the USB connections from the computers. Ensure all connections are secure.

6. Operating Instructions

The AIMOS KVM Switch offers several methods to switch between connected computers:

6.1. Physical Button Switching

Press the 'SWITCH' button on the front panel of the KVM switch to cycle through the connected computers (PC 1, PC 2, PC 3, PC 4).

6.2. Keyboard Hotkey Switching

To switch using keyboard hotkeys, ensure your keyboard is connected to the dedicated USB keyboard port on the KVM switch.

  • Method 1: Double-click the Scroll Lock key, then press 1, 2, 3, or 4 to switch to the corresponding computer.
  • Method 2: Double-click the Ctrl key, then press 1, 2, 3, or 4 to switch to the corresponding computer.

6.3. Mouse Switching

To switch using mouse gestures, ensure your mouse is connected to the dedicated USB mouse port on the KVM switch.

  • Switch to Next Port: Press and hold the mouse scroll key, then press the mouse left key. Release both keys.
  • Switch to Previous Port: Press and hold the mouse scroll key, then press the mouse right key. Release both keys.

A note emphasizes that for hotkey switching, the keyboard and mouse must be connected to the corresponding USB interfaces of the KVM switch box, not the other USB HUB ports.

7. Maintenance

  • Keep the KVM switch in a dry, well-ventilated area.
  • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures or humidity.
  • Clean the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
  • Ensure cables are securely connected and not under strain.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your KVM switch, please refer to the following common solutions:

  • No Display/Signal:
    • Ensure all HDMI cables are securely connected to both the KVM switch and the computers/monitor.
    • Verify that the correct input source is selected on your monitor.
    • Try restarting the connected computers.
    • Check if the KVM switch is receiving power via the USB connections from the computers.
  • Keyboard/Mouse Not Responding:
    • Ensure the keyboard and mouse are connected to the dedicated USB ports on the KVM switch, not the general USB HUB ports, especially for hotkey functionality.
    • Try reconnecting the keyboard and mouse.
    • Test the keyboard and mouse directly with a computer to confirm they are functional.
    • Some specific gaming keyboards/mice with advanced features may have compatibility issues. Try a standard keyboard/mouse if problems persist.
  • Hotkey Switching Not Working:
    • As noted in the operating instructions, the keyboard and mouse must be connected to the specific USB interfaces of the KVM switch box for hotkey functionality to work. Connecting them to the other USB HUB ports will prevent hotkey switching.
    • Ensure the hotkey sequence is performed correctly (e.g., double-click Scroll Lock, then press number).
  • Computer Crash or Stuck Peripherals:
    • The KVM switch uses a high-quality chip designed to reduce such occurrences. Ensure all connections are stable.
    • If issues persist, try connecting peripherals directly to the computer to isolate the problem.
  • Mac Compatibility:
    • Please note that this KVM switch may have poor compatibility with Mac systems. Functionality may be limited or inconsistent.
