Setup and Installation
The Gateman A20-IH is designed for easy installation. While a brief English user's manual (JPG file) is typically provided with the product, professional installation is recommended for optimal performance and security.
Pre-Installation Checklist:
- Ensure all components are present: Front unit, back unit, strike plate, screws, 4 RFID cards.
- Verify door thickness compatibility.
- Confirm door handing (left or right) as the lock can be adjusted during installation.
- Prepare necessary tools: Screwdriver, measuring tape, drill (if new holes are required).
- Important: Batteries are not included due to air parcel security policies. Please acquire 4 AA alkaline batteries before installation.
Installation Steps (General Overview):
- Prepare the Door: Remove any existing lock hardware. Ensure the door frame is clean and ready for the new installation.
- Install Mortise/Hook Bolt: Insert the hook bolt mechanism into the door edge. Secure it with screws.
- Mount Front Unit: Position the exterior keypad unit on the door, feeding the cable through the door hole.
- Mount Back Unit: Connect the cable from the front unit to the interior unit. Secure the interior unit to the door using the provided screws.
- Install Batteries: Open the battery cover on the interior unit and insert 4 AA alkaline batteries, observing polarity.
- Test Operation: After installation, test the lock's basic functions (manual locking, keypad response) before programming.

Operating Instructions
Initial Setup and Programming:
- Master Password Registration:
- Open the battery cover on the indoor unit.
- Press the [Registration] button.
- Enter your desired 4-12 digit master password on the keypad.
- Press the [#] button to confirm.
- User Password Registration:
- Press the [Registration] button.
- Enter the master password, then press [#].
- Enter the desired 4-12 digit user password.
- Press the [#] button to confirm. Repeat for additional user passwords.
- RFID Card Registration:
- Press the [Registration] button.
- Enter the master password, then press [#].
- Place each RFID card you wish to register on the card reader area until a confirmation sound is heard.
- Press the [Registration] button again to exit.
Unlocking the Door:
- By Pin Code:
- Touch the keypad to activate.
- Enter your registered pin code.
- Press the [#] button. The door will unlock.
- Fake Number Function: Before entering your actual pin, you can press random numbers to obscure your code from onlookers. For example, [random numbers] + [your pin] + [#].
- By RFID Card:
- Place your registered RFID card on the card reader area.
- The door will unlock automatically.
Locking the Door:
- Automatic Locking Mode: The door will automatically lock a few seconds after it is closed.
- Manual Locking Mode: If automatic locking is disabled, press the [Lock] button on the exterior unit or turn the thumb turn on the interior unit to lock the door.
- Double Locking Mechanism (Privacy Mode): From the inside, activate the double lock switch. This prevents entry from the outside even with a valid pin code or RFID card, enhancing privacy and security.
Maintenance
- Battery Replacement: When the low battery alarm sounds, replace all four AA alkaline batteries promptly. The emergency power slot can be used with a 9V battery if the internal batteries are completely drained.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the keypad and lock body. Avoid abrasive cleaners, solvents, or excessive moisture, which can damage the electronic components or finish.
- Regular Checks: Periodically check that all screws are tight and that the lock operates smoothly. Ensure the door and frame are aligned properly to prevent undue stress on the lock mechanism.
Troubleshooting
