Setup
Follow these steps to connect your KVM switch:
- Power Connection: Connect the DC 5V power adapter to the KVM switch and then to a power outlet.
- Monitor Connection: Connect your monitor to the HDMI 'Output' port on the KVM switch.
- Keyboard & Mouse Connection: Connect your keyboard and mouse to the dedicated USB 2.0 ports on the KVM switch.
- Computer Connections: For each computer (up to 4), connect one KVM cable (HDMI + USB A/B) from the computer's HDMI output and a USB port to the corresponding 'Input' and 'USB' ports on the KVM switch (e.g., Input 1 and USB 1 for PC1).
- Peripheral Devices: Utilize the additional USB 2.0 port to connect shared peripheral devices such as a USB hub, USB drive, printer, or scanner. Note: Hotkey switching is not supported for keyboards connected to this USB 2.0 port.
- Audio Output: Connect your headphones or speakers to the 3.5mm L/R Audio Out port for stereo audio output.

Operating Instructions
The TESmart KVM switch offers multiple convenient ways to switch between connected computers:
- Front Panel Buttons: Press the 'Select' buttons on the front panel to switch directly to the desired input.
- IR Remote Control: Use the included IR remote control to switch inputs. (Requires AAA batteries, not included).
- Keyboard Hotkeys: Utilize specific keyboard hotkey combinations for quick switching. For example, pressing 'Scroll Lock' twice followed by '1', '2', '3', or '4' will switch to the corresponding input.
- Mouse Gesture: Move the mouse cursor to the border of the screen to switch to the next input.

Image: This image visually demonstrates the four primary methods for switching inputs on the KVM switch: using keyboard hotkeys, mouse gestures, front panel buttons, and the IR remote control.
Key Features Explained:
- EDID Emulators: The KVM switch includes EDID emulators in each input port. This ensures that your computers always receive the correct display information, preventing display settings from changing when switching inputs. This eliminates the hassle of constantly adjusting window positions and resolutions.
- High Compatibility: The upgraded pass-through mode (Semi-DDM USB) ensures wide compatibility with various keyboards and mice, including wired, wireless (2.4G receiver), mechanical, multimedia, and gaming models. (Note: Wireless Bluetooth keyboards and mice are not supported).
- Seamless Switching: Experience zero latency keyboard and mouse switching for smooth operation and enhanced productivity.
- Hot Plug Support: Devices can be easily added or removed without needing to power off the KVM switch or connected devices, saving time and effort.
- Wide OS Compatibility: Supports various operating systems including Unix, Windows, Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, Mac OS X, Raspbian, Ubuntu for Raspberry Pi, and other Linux-based systems without requiring additional software or drivers.
Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your TESmart KVM Switch, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Keep the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
- Avoid exposing the unit to moisture or extreme temperatures.
- Clean the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.
- Ensure proper ventilation around the device to prevent overheating.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your KVM switch, please refer to the following common solutions. For more detailed troubleshooting, consult the Troubleshooting Guide (PDF).
- No Display or Black Screen:
- Ensure all HDMI and USB cables are securely connected to both the KVM switch and the computers/monitor.
- Verify that the KVM switch is powered on.
- Check if the correct input source is selected on the KVM switch.
- If using a docking station or adapter, try connecting directly or using a different output/adapter combination, as some setups may have compatibility issues (e.g., certain Dell WD19 docking station HDMI outputs with Apple devices, as noted by users).
- Keyboard/Mouse Not Responding or Skipping Characters:
- Ensure the keyboard and mouse are connected to the dedicated USB ports on the KVM switch.
- If using a wireless keyboard/mouse, ensure the 2.4G receiver is properly inserted and has a clear line of sight.
- Try connecting the keyboard/mouse to a powered external USB hub and then connecting the hub to the KVM's USB 2.0 port.
- If using Logitech Options or similar software, connect the mouse/keyboard to the general USB 2.0 port on the KVM switch, as the dedicated ports emulate a virtual device. Note that hotkeys may not work in this configuration.
- Display Settings Change After Switching: The built-in EDID emulators should prevent this. Ensure your KVM switch is functioning correctly. If the issue persists, check for firmware updates from TESmart.
- No Audio Output:
- Verify that your speakers or headphones are correctly connected to the 3.5mm L/R Audio Out port.
- Check the audio settings on the currently selected computer to ensure output is directed to the KVM switch.
