2. Key Features

  • Multi-Function Display: Includes Tachometer (RPM), Hour Meter, Service Timers (SVC & SVC2), and a Resettable Job Timer (JOB).
  • Accurate Hour Meter: Tracks total engine run time with 0.1 hours accuracy. Total hours are non-resettable and remain visible when the engine is off. Allows presetting initial total hours.
  • Maintenance Reminders: Programmable service intervals (SVC & SVC2) with countdown tracking. A warning icon and red backlight activate when service is due. The JOB timer measures specific work tasks and can be reset.
  • Real-time Tachometer: Records accurate RPM values, assisting in engine idle adjustment. Features programmable engine firing patterns, RPM Alert (with red backlight and warning icon), and records/recalls maximum RPM.
  • User-Friendly Design: Easy installation, green backlit display with programmable modes, replaceable battery, user shutdown function, and data retention after shutdown.
  • Durable Construction: Waterproof with an IP65 rating, CE ROHS certified.

3. Setup and Installation

3.1. Battery Activation

The device comes with a pre-installed lithium metal battery (CR2032). To activate the device, remove the plastic insulation sheet from the battery compartment located at the back of the unit. Ensure the battery cover is securely twisted back into place to maintain waterproofing.

3.2. Signal Wire Connection

The tachometer operates by detecting electrical pulses from the spark plug. Wrap the signal wire around the spark plug wire of your engine 5-8 times. Secure the wrapped wire using the provided cable ties if necessary. The device will automatically activate and begin recording once it detects engine firing.

5. Maintenance

5.1. Battery Replacement

The device uses a replaceable CR2032 lithium metal battery. When the battery level is low, replace it by opening the battery compartment at the back of the unit. Data is retained even after battery replacement.

5.2. Service Reminders

Utilize the programmable SVC and SVC2 timers to set reminders for routine engine maintenance, such as oil changes, air filter replacements, or spark plug checks. The JOB timer can be used for tracking specific tasks.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1. Incorrect RPM Readings or No Signal

If the device displays incorrect RPM readings or fails to detect a signal, ensure the signal wire is wrapped tightly around the spark plug wire 5-8 times. For some engines, placing the wire between the coil and the spark plug hole wall may improve signal reception.
