Safety Information

Tamiya Lacquer Paint is a chemical product and requires careful handling. Adhere to the following safety guidelines:

Setup

  1. Prepare Work Area: Ensure your workspace is clean, well-lit, and well-ventilated. Protect surfaces with newspaper or a drop cloth.
  2. Shake Paint Thoroughly: Before opening, shake the paint bottle vigorously for at least 30 seconds to ensure pigments are evenly mixed. A stirring stick can also be used to mix the paint inside the bottle.
  3. Surface Preparation: Ensure the surface to be painted is clean, dry, and free of dust, grease, or mold release agents. Priming the surface is recommended for best adhesion and finish.
  4. Thinning (if necessary): Tamiya Lacquer Paints can be thinned with Tamiya Lacquer Thinner (e.g., Tamiya Lacquer Thinner, Tamiya Lacquer Thinner with Retarder) for airbrushing or fine brushwork. Start with a ratio of 1 part paint to 1-2 parts thinner for airbrushing, adjusting as needed for desired consistency. For brush painting, thinning may not be necessary or only a small amount is required.
  5. Tools: Have your chosen application tools ready (e.g., paint brushes, airbrush, mixing palette, cleaning supplies).
