5. Setup and Installation

5.1 Placement

  • Position the pump on a firm, level, and dry surface.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation around the pump to prevent overheating.

A foot valve with a strainer should be installed at the end of the suction pipe submerged in the water source to prevent debris from entering the pump and to maintain prime.
  • Discharge Pipe: Connect a discharge pipe (1 inch diameter) to the pump's outlet. Use the provided three-way brass fitting, pressure switch, and pressure gauge as part of your water supply system. Ensure all connections are secure.

5.3 Priming the Pump

This is a self-priming pump, but initial priming is crucial for proper operation. Before first use or after the pump has run dry:

  1. Ensure the suction pipe is fully submerged in the water source.
  2. Locate the priming plug on the top of the pump casing.
  3. Unscrew the priming plug and slowly fill the pump casing with clean water until it overflows.
  4. Replace and securely tighten the priming plug.
  5. Open any valves on the discharge side to allow air to escape during startup.

5.4 Electrical Connection

6. Operation

6.1 Starting the Pump

  1. Ensure the pump has been properly primed (Section 5.3).

  4. Observe the pressure gauge. The pressure should rise as the pump builds pressure.
