3. Setup

3.1 Filling the Fresh Water Tank

1. Remove the fresh water tank from the appliance.
2. Fill the tank with clean water up to the MAX line.
3. Add the recommended amount of Kärcher floor cleaning solution to the tank.
4. Securely close the tank and reinsert it into the appliance until it clicks into place.

3.2 Attaching the Microfiber Rollers

• Ensure the appliance is unplugged.
• Align the microfiber rollers with the drive shafts on the cleaning head.
• Push the rollers firmly onto the shafts until they are securely in place.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Starting the Appliance

1. Plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet.
2. Press the ON/OFF switch to start the appliance. The rollers will begin to rotate.
3. Gently tilt the handle backward to engage the cleaning head with the floor.

4.2 Cleaning Your Floors

• Move the appliance slowly and evenly across the floor. The forward-rotating rollers will assist in propulsion.
• For optimal cleaning, overlap each pass slightly.
• The flexible hinge and low profile allow for easy maneuvering under furniture and close to edges.
• The dual tank system ensures dirty water is immediately suctioned into a separate tank, leaving floors dry within 2 minutes.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Self-Cleaning Function

• Place the FC 5 in its included clean and park station.
• Activate the self-cleaning function (refer to the appliance's controls for specific instructions). This will clean the rollers and flush the system.

5.2 Emptying the Dirty Water Tank

• Remove the dirty water tank from the appliance.
• Empty the dirty water into a drain. The tank is designed for easy emptying without direct contact with dirt.
• Rinse the tank with clean water and reinsert it into the appliance.

5.3 Cleaning Rollers and Floor Head Cover

• Remove the microfiber rollers from the cleaning head. They can be machine washed or rinsed under running water.
• The floor head cover can also be removed and washed quickly under running water.
• Allow all parts to air dry completely before reassembling.
