1. Introduction

This manual provides comprehensive instructions for setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting your Keychron K6 Mechanical Keyboard. The K6 is a compact 65% layout RGB backlight Bluetooth wireless mechanical keyboard designed for both Mac and Windows users, featuring Gateron G Pro Blue Switches.

3. Setup

3.1 Initial Charging

Before first use, connect the keyboard to a power source using the provided USB Type-C cable. The battery indicator will show charging status. A full charge can last up to 200 hours with the backlight off, thanks to the 4000 mAh battery.

3.2 Connecting via Bluetooth (Wireless Mode)

  1. Locate the mode switch on the side of the keyboard and set it to "BT" (Bluetooth).
  2. Press and hold the Fn1 + Q, Fn1 + W, or Fn1 + E keys for 4 seconds to enter pairing mode. The backlight will flash rapidly to indicate it's ready to pair.
  3. On your device (computer, tablet, smartphone), enable Bluetooth and search for "Keychron K6".
  4. Select "Keychron K6" to connect. The backlight will stop flashing upon successful connection.
  5. You can connect up to three devices and switch between them using Fn1 + Q, Fn1 + W, or Fn1 + E.

3.3 Connecting via USB Type-C (Wired Mode)

To use the keyboard in wired mode, set the mode switch on the side of the keyboard to "Cable" or "USB". Connect the provided USB Type-C cable from the keyboard to your computer's USB port. The keyboard will automatically be recognized.

3.4 Switching Operating System Layout (Mac/Windows)

The K6 keyboard supports both Mac and Windows layouts. Use the OS switch located on the side of the keyboard to select your operating system. Ensure the correct keycaps are installed for your preferred layout (extra keycaps are provided).

3.5 Adjusting Keyboard Angle

The keyboard features two-level adjustable feet, allowing you to set the typing angle to 6° or 9° for ergonomic comfort.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Key Functions and Layout

The K6 features a 65% compact layout with 68 keys, including dedicated arrow keys. Multimedia and function keys are accessible via the Fn1 or Fn2 keys in combination with other keys. Refer to the keycap legends for specific functions.

4.2 Backlight Control (RGB)

The keyboard features RGB backlighting with over 15 lighting options. Use the dedicated backlight key (usually located above the right Shift key) to cycle through different lighting effects. Adjust brightness and speed using Fn1 + arrow keys (up/down for brightness, left/right for speed).

4.3 N-Key Rollover (NKRO)

The K6 supports N-key rollover (NKRO) in wired mode, allowing all keys to be registered simultaneously. In wireless mode, it supports 6-key rollover (6KRO).

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

To clean your keyboard, first disconnect it from all power sources. Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution. For keycaps, you can use the provided keycap puller to remove them and clean them separately. Ensure all components are completely dry before reassembling or reconnecting.

5.2 Battery Care

To prolong battery life, avoid exposing the keyboard to extreme temperatures. If storing for an extended period, charge the battery to approximately 50% and store in a cool, dry place. Recharge periodically if not in use.

5.3 Switch and Keycap Information

The Keychron K6 model K6-P2 features Gateron G Pro Blue Switches, known for their clicky tactile feedback and a lifespan of up to 50 million keystrokes. This specific model is not hot-swappable, meaning the switches are soldered to the PCB and cannot be easily replaced without desoldering.
