4. Product Overview

4.1. Front Panel (Active Speaker)

5. Setup

5.1. Placement

For optimal stereo imaging and sound accuracy, position the monitors to form an equilateral triangle with your listening position. The tweeters should ideally be at ear level. Ensure there is sufficient space behind the monitors for proper airflow and cable management. The compact design allows for placement on most desktops or studio workstations.

5.2. Connecting the Speakers

  1. Identify the active speaker (with controls and power input) and the passive speaker.
  2. Use the supplied 2-conductor speaker wire to connect the "Extension Monitor Output" on the active speaker to the input terminals on the passive speaker. Ensure correct polarity (red to red, black to black).

5.3. Power Connection

  1. Ensure the power switch on the rear of the active speaker is in the OFF position.
  2. Connect the supplied power cord to the power input on the active speaker.
  3. Plug the other end of the power cord into a suitable AC power outlet.

6. Operating

6.1. Power On/Off

To power on the monitors, flip the power switch on the rear of the active speaker to the ON position. An audible chime will indicate the system is powering up. To power off, flip the switch to the OFF position.

6.2. Input Selection

Press the "Input Select" button on the front panel of the active speaker to cycle through the available input sources: Bluetooth, AUX, RCA, TRS, or ALL (combines all wired inputs). The corresponding LED indicator will illuminate to show the active input.

6.3. Bluetooth Pairing

  1. Select Bluetooth as the input source using the "Input Select" button. The Bluetooth indicator will flash.
  2. On your Bluetooth-enabled device, search for "JBL 104-BT" in the list of available devices.
  3. Select "JBL 104-BT" to pair. Once connected, the Bluetooth indicator will glow solid blue.
  4. If pairing fails, ensure no other device is connected and try again.

6.4. Wired Connections

Connect your audio source to the desired input on the active speaker's rear panel (TRS or RCA) or front panel (AUX IN). Select the corresponding input using the "Input Select" button. If using multiple wired inputs simultaneously, select "ALL" mode.

6.5. Headphone Use

Plug your headphones into the 3.5mm headphone jack on the front panel. This action will automatically mute the main speakers, allowing for private listening.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior surfaces of the monitors. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
  • Dust: Regularly dust the speaker grilles and vents to prevent accumulation that could affect performance.
  • Storage: If storing the monitors for an extended period, ensure they are powered off, disconnected from the power source, and stored in a cool, dry place.

8. Troubleshooting
