2. Setup Instructions
This section guides you through the assembly process of your PURPLE LEAF Cantilever Patio Umbrella.
2.1 Unpacking and Component Check
Carefully unpack all components and verify against the parts list (not provided in this manual, refer to your product packaging). Ensure no parts are missing or damaged. Keep packaging materials until assembly is complete.
2.2 Base Installation (Base Not Included)
A stable and adequately weighted base is crucial for the safe operation of your cantilever umbrella. The weighted base is NOT included with this umbrella and must be purchased separately. For optimal stability, consider the PURPLE LEAF PL210BD weighted base or an in-ground base solution.
When installing the base, note that the main umbrella base is designed to lean backwards approximately 2.5 degrees. This is a normal design feature for stability.

2.3 Attaching the Umbrella to the Base
Follow the specific instructions provided with your chosen base for attaching the umbrella pole. Ensure all bolts and fasteners are tightened securely. It is recommended to have two people for this step due to the weight of the umbrella.
2.4 Initial Preparation
Before attempting to open the umbrella, locate and remove any foam packaging or protective materials wrapped around the individual umbrella ribs. Failure to do so will prevent the umbrella from opening correctly.

3. Operating Instructions
Your PURPLE LEAF Cantilever Patio Umbrella offers multiple adjustment features for optimal shade coverage.
3.1 Opening and Closing the Umbrella
Use the aluminum crank handle located on the main pole to open and close the umbrella canopy. Turn the crank clockwise to open and counter-clockwise to close. Ensure the central black plastic piece inside the umbrella connects properly when opening and disconnects when closing.

3.2 Height and Angle Adjustment
The umbrella features a multi-function adjustment system with 6 height and angle options. To adjust, manipulate the handle to slide it up or down the main pole, locking it into the desired position. This allows you to tailor the shade coverage throughout the day.

3.3 360-Degree Rotation
For complete shade control, the umbrella can rotate 360 degrees. Use the bottom crank at the foot of the umbrella base to smoothly rotate the canopy to your desired position.

4. Maintenance
Proper maintenance will extend the life and appearance of your PURPLE LEAF Patio Umbrella.
4.1 Canopy Care
The canopy is made from 240/gsm yarn-dyed polyester fabric, which is UV 50+, water-repellent, and fade-resistant. To clean, gently brush off loose dirt. Spot clean with mild soap and water. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry completely before closing or storing. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

4.2 Frame Care
The umbrella features an all-aluminum frame with a wood-grain spray design, which is anti-oxidation spray painted. Clean the frame with a soft cloth and mild soap and water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Avoid scratching the painted surface.

4.3 Storage
When not in use for extended periods, especially during off-season or severe weather, it is recommended to close the umbrella and cover it with a protective cover (sold separately). Store in a dry, sheltered location.
5. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your umbrella.
5.1 Umbrella Not Opening/Closing Smoothly
- Check for obstructions: Ensure no packaging materials or debris are caught in the ribs or crank mechanism.
- Lubrication: Apply a silicone-based lubricant to moving parts of the crank system if it feels stiff.
- Crank mechanism: Verify that the internal plastic connector piece is engaging correctly when opening. If the crank feels loose or ineffective, the handle mechanism might need adjustment or replacement. Contact customer support if the issue persists.
5.2 Umbrella Instability
- Base weight: Ensure your weighted base is adequately filled (if applicable) and heavy enough for the umbrella size. Insufficient weight is a common cause of instability.
- Secure attachment: Double-check that the umbrella pole is securely fastened to the base according to the base's instructions.
- Wind conditions: Always close the umbrella in windy conditions to prevent tipping or damage.
5.3 Canopy Damage (e.g., small holes)
If you notice any damage to the canopy fabric upon arrival, document it with photos and contact PURPLE LEAF customer service immediately for assistance. Damage during shipping can occur and may be eligible for replacement.
