1. Introduction

This RED WOLF Radio Wire Harness is designed to simplify the installation of an aftermarket stereo system in select Dodge Ram, Chrysler, and Jeep vehicles. It allows for a direct connection without cutting the factory wiring, ensuring a clean and efficient upgrade. This harness is specifically for non-factory amplified systems.

NOTE: This harness is NOT compatible with radios that have a factory amplifier or subwoofer. Some vehicles may require a separate switched power wire for the aftermarket deck if the factory deck does not have an ACC wire.

5. Installation Guide

Follow these steps to install your RED WOLF Radio Wire Harness:

1. Disconnect Battery: Locate your vehicle's battery and disconnect the negative (-) terminal.
2. Remove Factory Radio: Carefully remove the trim panels surrounding your factory radio using appropriate trim removal tools. Unbolt and slide out the factory radio. Disconnect all wiring harnesses and the antenna cable from the back of the factory radio.
3. Prepare Wiring Harnesses: Match the color-coded wires of the RED WOLF harness to the corresponding wires on your aftermarket stereo's wiring harness. Use crimp connectors, solder, or electrical tape to make secure connections. Ensure the ground wires and the brown brake bypass wire (if applicable) are connected together. Tape off any unused wires.
4. Connect Antenna Adapter: If your aftermarket stereo requires a different antenna connection, connect the provided antenna adapter (if included) to the vehicle's factory antenna lead and the aftermarket stereo.
5. Connect to Vehicle: Plug the RED WOLF harness into the vehicle's factory wiring harness.
6. Install Aftermarket Stereo: Connect the prepared aftermarket stereo harness to your new stereo. Slide the aftermarket stereo into the dash opening and secure it with the mounting brackets and screws.
7. Reinstall Trim Panels: Carefully reattach all trim panels removed in Step 2.
8. Reconnect Battery: Reconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
9. Test Functionality: Turn on your vehicle and test the aftermarket stereo's functions, including radio, audio output, and any connected accessories like a rear camera.

7. Troubleshooting

• No Power to Stereo: Check the yellow (constant 12V) and red (switched 12V) wire connections. Ensure the vehicle's fuse for the radio is intact.
• No Sound: Verify all speaker wire connections (positive and negative) are correctly matched and secure. Ensure the amplifier remote turn-on wire (blue) is connected if your aftermarket stereo or external amplifier requires it.
• Intermittent Power/Sound: Recheck all connections for looseness or poor contact. Ensure proper grounding (black wire).
• Rear Camera Not Activating: Confirm the pink (back car control) wire is correctly connected to the reverse light trigger. Ensure the camera's power and ground connections are secure.
• Steering Wheel Controls Not Working: This harness does not support steering wheel controls directly. An additional interface module (sold separately) is required for this functionality.
