2. Slide the cover open or unscrew it, depending on the design.

5. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off and Zero Setting

1. Press the ON/OFF button to turn on the caliper.
2. Close the measuring jaws completely and ensure they are clean.
3. Press the ZERO button. The display should read "0.00" (mm) or "0.000" (inch). This sets the absolute zero point.
4. To turn off, press the ON/OFF button again. The caliper may also have an auto-off feature after a period of inactivity.

5.2 Unit Conversion (mm/inch)

Press the mm/inch button to switch between millimeter and inch readings at any time during measurement.

5.3 Absolute/Incremental Measurement (ABS)

The ABS button allows you to switch between absolute and incremental measurement modes:

• Absolute Mode: Measurements are taken from the true zero point (when jaws are closed and zeroed).
• Incremental Mode: You can set a temporary zero point at any position. Subsequent measurements will be relative to this new zero. Press ABS to toggle back to absolute mode.

5.4 Taking Measurements

Always ensure the caliper is clean and zeroed before taking measurements.

1. External Measurement: Place the object between the external measuring jaws. Gently close the jaws until they make firm contact with the object. Read the value on the digital display.
2. Internal Measurement: Insert the internal measuring jaws into the opening of the object. Open the jaws until they make firm contact with the inner surfaces. Read the value.
3. Depth Measurement: Place the end of the beam on the top surface of the object. Extend the depth rod into the hole or recess until it touches the bottom. Read the value.
4. Step Measurement: Place the step measuring face of the fixed jaw on the higher surface. Extend the sliding jaw until its step measuring face rests on the lower surface. Read the value.

For consistent readings, use the thumb roller for fine adjustments and the locking screw to hold the measurement if needed.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

• After each use, wipe the entire caliper with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth.
• Do not use solvents or harsh chemicals, as they can damage the display or measuring surfaces.
• Ensure no liquid enters the electronic components.
