5. Setup and Installation

Before beginning installation, ensure the main power supply is switched off at the circuit breaker.

5.1 Wiring Diagram

The motion detector requires a 3-wire connection. Refer to the terminal block on the device for correct wiring. Typically, this involves Live (L), Neutral (N), and Switched Live (L').

5.2 Flush Mounting

For flush mounting, a circular opening in the ceiling is required. The recommended mounting hole diameter is 61-70mm. Insert the sensor into the opening and secure it using the spring clips on the sides of the device.

5.3 Surface Mounting

To surface mount the detector, attach the screw-on adapter ring to the ceiling first. Then, secure the motion detector into this adapter ring.

5.4 Optimal Placement

For optimal performance, install the sensor at a height between 2.2m and 4m. Avoid placing the sensor near heat sources (e.g., vents, direct sunlight) or in areas with significant air currents, as these can cause false triggers. Ensure the detection area is clear of obstructions.

6. Operating Instructions

The SEBSON PIR Sensor features two adjustable dials for customizing its operation:

6.1 TIME Adjustment (Switch-off Delay)

This dial controls how long the connected light remains on after motion is no longer detected. You can set the delay from approximately 10 seconds to 30 minutes.

  • Turn the dial clockwise to increase the delay.
  • Turn the dial counter-clockwise to decrease the delay.

6.2 LUX Adjustment (Ambient Brightness Sensitivity)

This dial determines the ambient light level at which the sensor will activate. This allows you to prevent the light from turning on during daylight hours if desired.

  • Setting to '3' (moon icon): The sensor will only activate in very low light conditions (e.g., at night).
  • Setting to '2000' (sun icon): The sensor will activate regardless of ambient light level (day or night).

7. Maintenance

The SEBSON PIR Sensor requires minimal maintenance. To ensure optimal performance:

  • Regularly clean the sensor lens with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust or debris that could obstruct detection.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Ensure the area around the sensor remains clear of obstructions.

8. Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your motion detector, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Light does not turn on when motion is detected.
  • No power supply.
  • LUX setting is too high for current ambient light.
  • Wiring error.
  • Motion not within detection range.
  • Check power connection and circuit breaker.
  • Adjust LUX dial towards the 'sun' icon.
  • Verify wiring according to diagram.
  • Ensure movement is within 8m and 360° detection area.
Light stays on continuously.
  • Continuous motion in detection area.
  • TIME setting is too long.
  • Faulty unit.
  • Clear detection area of constant movement.
  • Adjust TIME dial to a shorter duration.
  • Contact customer support if problem persists.
Light turns on too frequently (false triggers).
  • Sensor exposed to heat sources or air currents.
  • Sensitivity too high.
  • Relocate sensor away from heat/air sources.
  • Adjust LUX dial towards the 'moon' icon if false triggers occur during daylight.
