Safety Information

Please read and understand all safety instructions before using this product. Keep this manual for future reference.

  • Do not expose the bell push to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
  • Ensure the plug-in chime is connected to a standard AC power outlet (220 Volts).
  • Do not attempt to open or repair the units yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
  • Keep batteries out of reach of children. If swallowed, seek immediate medical attention.
  • Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations.

Setup and Installation

1. Installing the Bell Push

  1. Battery Check: The bell push comes with a pre-installed CR2032 battery. Ensure the battery is correctly seated. If replacing, refer to the Maintenance section.
  2. Choose Location: Select a suitable, flat surface near your door. The bell push is weather-resistant (IP44 rated), but placing it under a small overhang can extend its lifespan.
  3. Attach Bell Push: Clean the chosen surface thoroughly. Remove the protective film from one side of the double-sided adhesive tape and apply it to the back of the bell push. Remove the other protective film and firmly press the bell push onto the desired location for at least 30 seconds. Alternatively, you can use screws (not included) through the mounting holes on the back plate for a more secure installation.

2. Installing the Plug-in Chime

  1. Choose Location: Select an indoor standard AC power outlet within the 150-meter wireless range of the bell push. Consider central locations for optimal sound distribution.
  2. Plug In: Insert the plug-in chime directly into the power outlet. The chime will power on automatically.

3. Pairing (If necessary)

Your doorbell kit is typically pre-paired from the factory. If the chime does not sound when the bell push is pressed, follow these steps to pair them:

  1. Press and hold the pairing button on the chime unit (refer to the chime diagram in the manual for exact location, usually a small button on the side or back) until it emits a short sound or its indicator light flashes.
  2. Within 5 seconds, press the bell push button. The chime should sound, indicating successful pairing.
  3. Test the doorbell by pressing the bell push.

Operating Instructions

1. Selecting a Melody

The chime unit offers 16 different melodies. To change the melody:

  • Locate the melody selection button on the chime unit (often marked with a music note symbol).
  • Press the button repeatedly to cycle through the available melodies. The chime will play each melody as you select it.
  • Stop pressing when you hear your desired melody. The chime will save this selection.

2. Adjusting Volume

The chime unit has 5 adjustable volume levels, up to 80-85 dB. To adjust the volume:

  • Locate the volume control button on the chime unit (often marked with a speaker symbol).
  • Press the button repeatedly to cycle through the volume levels (0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%).
  • Stop pressing when you reach your desired volume level.

3. Bell Push Indicator Light

When the bell push is pressed, an indicator light on the button will illuminate, confirming to your visitor that the signal has been sent.

4. Expanding Your System

The Byron DBY-22312 system is expandable. You can add up to 6 additional Byron bell pushes to a single chime unit, or add additional chime units to existing bell pushes. This is useful for multiple entrances or for extending the chime sound to other areas of your home (e.g., an upstairs bedroom or garden shed).

  • Adding Bell Pushes: Follow the pairing instructions for each new bell push. You can assign a different melody to each bell push to distinguish which door a visitor is at.
  • Adding Chime Units: Pair each new chime unit with your existing bell push(es) using the pairing instructions.

Maintenance

1. Battery Replacement (Bell Push)

The CR2032 battery in the bell push typically lasts approximately 3 years under normal use. Replace the battery when the indicator light on the bell push no longer illuminates or the range decreases significantly.

  1. Carefully open the bell push casing. This may involve unscrewing a small screw or prying open a tab on the back.
  2. Remove the old CR2032 battery.
  3. Insert a new CR2032 battery, ensuring the positive (+) side faces upwards.
  4. Close the bell push casing securely.
  5. Test the doorbell to ensure it is functioning correctly.

2. Cleaning

To clean your doorbell units, use a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the plastic housing.
