3. Setup and Installation

3.1. Mounting Height and Dimensions
Ensure the mounting surface is structurally sound and capable of supporting the awning's weight. Refer to the diagram for recommended mounting height and dimensions.

3.2. Remote Control Programming
The remote control needs to be programmed to operate the awning motor. Follow these steps:
- Slide the back cover off the remote control to access the battery compartment and the P2 button.
- Insert the 27A 12V battery with the positive (+) side facing the bottom of the remote.
- Unplug the awning motor from its power outlet, wait 10 seconds, then plug it back in.
- For Right-Facing Motor: Push the P2 button twice. Immediately turn the remote over and push the top button twice. Then push the bottom button once to engage the awning.
- For Left-Facing Motor: Push the P2 button twice. Immediately turn the remote over and push the bottom button twice. Then push the bottom button a third time to engage the awning.
- Replace the battery cover on the remote.

4. Operating Instructions
Your ALEKO electric awning offers both motorized and manual operation.
4.1. Motorized Operation (Remote Control)
- Use the remote control to extend or retract the awning. The specific buttons for extension and retraction will be indicated on your remote.
- Ensure there are no obstructions in the awning's path during operation.
- Do not operate the awning in strong winds or heavy rain.
4.2. Manual Operation (Hand Crank)
In case of a power outage or motor malfunction, the awning can be operated manually:
- Locate the hand crank provided with your awning.
- Insert the hook of the hand crank into the loop on the awning's gearbox.
- Turn the crank clockwise to retract the awning and counter-clockwise to extend it.
- Remove the hand crank when not in use.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps prolong the life and performance of your awning.
- Cleaning the Fabric: Clean the awning fabric periodically with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive brushes that could damage the UV-resistant coating. Allow the fabric to dry completely before retracting to prevent mildew.
- Frame Inspection: Periodically inspect the frame, arms, and mounting hardware for any signs of wear, corrosion, or loose connections. Tighten any loose bolts or screws.
- Motor and Remote: Ensure the motor area is kept clear of debris. Check the remote control battery regularly and replace it when needed.
- Winter Storage: In areas with heavy snow or ice, it is recommended to fully retract the awning during winter months to prevent damage.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your awning, consider the following common solutions:
- Awning Not Responding to Remote:
- Check the remote control battery and replace if necessary.
- Ensure the motor is plugged into a working power outlet.
- Re-program the remote control following the steps in Section 3.2.
- Awning Not Extending/Retracting Fully:
- Check for any physical obstructions.
- Ensure the power supply to the motor is stable.
- If the issue persists, contact customer support.
- Unusual Noises During Operation:
- Inspect the arms and frame for any loose parts or debris.
- If the noise is from the motor, discontinue use and contact customer support.
