1. Important Safety Instructions
Always read and understand all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations, and specifications provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.
Work Area Safety
- Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
- Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
- Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
Electrical Safety
- Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way.
- Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
- Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
Personal Safety
- Always wear eye protection. Use safety glasses, goggles, or a face shield.
- Wear hearing protection when operating impact drills.
- Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair and clothing away from moving parts.
- Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operating a power tool.

3. Setup
3.1 Attaching the Auxiliary Handle
- Loosen the auxiliary handle by rotating it counter-clockwise.
- Slide the handle over the chuck and onto the front of the drill housing.
- Adjust the handle to a comfortable and secure position.
- Tighten the handle by rotating it clockwise until it is firmly secured.
3.2 Installing Drill Bits
- Ensure the drill is unplugged from the power source before changing bits.
- Hold the rear part of the 13mm keyless chuck and rotate the front part counter-clockwise to open the chuck jaws.
- Insert the drill bit into the chuck, ensuring it is centered and fully seated.
- Rotate the front part of the chuck clockwise to tighten the jaws securely around the drill bit. Hand-tighten firmly.
3.3 Setting the Depth Gauge
- Loosen the auxiliary handle.
- Insert the depth gauge through the hole in the auxiliary handle.
- Adjust the depth gauge to the desired drilling depth. The tip of the drill bit should extend beyond the end of the depth gauge by the desired drilling depth.
- Tighten the auxiliary handle to secure the depth gauge in place.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Power Connection
Connect the drill's power cord to a suitable 220-240V ~ 50/60Hz power outlet. Ensure the power outlet is properly grounded.
4.2 Selecting Drill Mode
The drill features a mode selector switch, typically located on the top of the drill housing. Rotate the switch to select:
- Drill Mode (Drill icon): For drilling in wood, metal, plastics, and other non-masonry materials.
- Impact Drill Mode (Hammer icon): For drilling in masonry, concrete, and brick.
4.3 Variable Speed Control
The drill's speed is controlled by the pressure applied to the trigger switch. Pressing the trigger lightly results in lower speeds, while pressing it fully increases the speed up to 3000 rpm. This allows for precise control depending on the material and application.
4.4 Forward/Reverse Operation
The forward/reverse switch, located above the trigger, controls the direction of rotation:
- Pushing the switch to the left (when viewed from the rear) sets the drill to forward rotation for drilling.
- Pushing the switch to the right sets the drill to reverse rotation, useful for removing jammed bits or driving/removing screws (with appropriate bits).
Always ensure the drill has come to a complete stop before changing the direction of rotation.
4.5 Lock-on Button
For continuous operation, press the trigger switch and then press the lock-on button. The drill will continue to run without holding the trigger. To release, press the trigger switch again.
4.6 Drilling Techniques
- General Drilling: Apply steady, even pressure. Do not force the drill. Let the tool do the work.
- Wood: Use high speeds for small holes, lower speeds for larger holes. Clear chips frequently.
- Metal: Use appropriate metal drill bits. Apply cutting oil to cool the bit and improve cutting. Use moderate speed and pressure.
- Masonry/Concrete: Select impact drill mode. Use carbide-tipped masonry bits. Apply firm, steady pressure.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your Ingco ID6538-2 impact drill.
5.1 Cleaning
- Always unplug the drill before cleaning.
- Clean the ventilation openings regularly to prevent overheating. Use a soft brush or compressed air.
- Wipe the tool housing with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Keep the chuck jaws clean and free of debris to ensure proper bit gripping.
5.2 Storage
Store the drill in a dry, secure location, out of reach of children. Protect it from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
