5. Installation

This timer is designed to replace a standard single-pole or three-way wall switch. A neutral wire is required for proper operation.

5.1 Before You Begin

  1. Turn off power: Locate the circuit breaker or fuse that supplies power to the switch you are replacing and turn it OFF. Verify power is off using a voltage tester.
  2. Remove existing switch: Carefully remove the wall plate and unscrew the existing switch from the wall box.
  3. Identify wires: Identify the LINE (hot), LOAD, NEUTRAL, and GROUND wires. A neutral wire is essential for this timer. If a neutral wire is not present, consult a qualified electrician.

5.2 Wiring Instructions

The UltraPro timer uses screw terminals for wire connections, eliminating the need for wire leads.

  1. Connect GROUND wire: Connect the bare copper or green insulated GROUND wire from the wall box to the GROUND terminal on the timer.
  2. Connect NEUTRAL wire: Connect the white NEUTRAL wire from the wall box to the NEUTRAL terminal on the timer.
  3. Connect LINE wire: Connect the LINE (hot) wire from the wall box to the LINE terminal on the timer.
  4. Connect LOAD wire: Connect the LOAD wire (to the light fixture) from the wall box to the LOAD terminal on the timer.
  5. Three-way wiring (if applicable): If replacing a three-way switch, connect the TRAVELER wire to the TRAVELER terminal on the timer. Ensure the other three-way switch is compatible or replaced with a standard switch.
  6. Secure connections: Tighten all screw terminals to 8.85 - 12.39 lbf-in (1.0 - 1.4 Nm).

5.3 Final Steps

  1. Mount timer: Carefully push the wired timer into the wall box and secure it with the provided screws.
  2. Install faceplate: Attach the desired white or light almond door/faceplate.
  3. Restore power: Turn the power back ON at the circuit breaker.

6. Operation and Programming

The timer features a digital display and multiple buttons for setting time, programming schedules, and manual control. The programming buttons are located behind a hinged door.

6.1 Setting the Current Time

  1. Open the hinged door to access the programming buttons.
  2. Press the CLOCK button. The time display will flash.
  3. Use the UP (▲) and DOWN (▼) arrow buttons to adjust the hour and minute. Press CLOCK again to toggle between hour and minute adjustment.
  4. Press SET to confirm the time.

6.2 Programming ON/OFF Cycles

The timer allows for up to 4 programmable ON/OFF settings. Each setting consists of an ON time and an OFF time.

  1. Open the hinged door.
  2. Press the SET button. The display will show "ON 1" and the time will flash.
  3. Use the UP (▲) and DOWN (▼) arrow buttons to set the desired ON time for program 1. Press SET to confirm.
  4. The display will then show "OFF 1" and the time will flash. Use the UP (▲) and DOWN (▼) arrow buttons to set the desired OFF time for program 1. Press SET to confirm.
  5. Repeat steps 2-4 for programs 2, 3, and 4. After setting "OFF 4", pressing SET will return the timer to normal operation.

6.3 Using Presets

The timer includes pre-programmed settings for common lighting schedules:

  • EVENING (5PM-12AM): Activates lights from 5:00 PM to 12:00 AM.
  • MORNING (5AM-8AM): Activates lights from 5:00 AM to 8:00 AM.

To activate a preset, simply press the corresponding button (EVENING or MORNING) located behind the hinged door.

6.4 Countdown Feature

The countdown feature allows you to turn the lights ON or OFF after a specified duration.

  1. Open the hinged door.
  2. Press the COUNTDOWN button. The display will show a default countdown time.
  3. Use the UP (▲) and DOWN (▼) arrow buttons to adjust the countdown duration.
  4. Press COUNTDOWN again to start the countdown. The lights will turn ON or OFF when the countdown finishes, depending on their current state.

6.5 ON/OFF Override Button

The large ON/OFF button on the front of the timer (visible when the door is closed) allows for manual control, overriding any active program or countdown. Pressing this button will toggle the connected lights ON or OFF.

7. Maintenance

The UltraPro In-Wall Timer requires minimal maintenance.

  • Cleaning: To clean the timer, wipe it with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure power is off before cleaning.
  • Door Replacement: The timer includes interchangeable white and light almond doors. To replace, gently pry off the existing door and snap the new one into place.

8. Troubleshooting
