1. Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Byron DBY-21131 DB131 Wireless Doorbell Kit. This kit includes a portable, battery-powered chime unit and a weather-resistant bell push. It offers a wireless range of up to 100 meters, 36 selectable melodies, and 4 adjustable volume levels.

2. Package Contents

Ensure all items are present in the package:

  • 1x Wireless Chime Unit
  • 1x Bell Push Unit
  • 1x CR2032 Battery (for bell push)
  • Double-sided Adhesive Tape
  • User Manual

Note: Three AAA/LR6 batteries for the chime unit are not included and must be purchased separately.

3. Safety Information

  • Keep batteries out of reach of children.
  • Do not mix old and new batteries, or different types of batteries.
  • Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations.
  • Do not expose the chime unit to excessive moisture or direct water spray. The bell push is weather-resistant (IP44), but avoid submerging it.
  • Do not attempt to open or repair the units yourself. Refer to qualified personnel for service.

4. Setup

4.1. Bell Push Battery Installation

  1. Carefully open the bell push unit.
  2. Insert the included CR2032 battery, ensuring the correct polarity (+/-).
  3. Close the bell push unit securely.

4.2. Chime Unit Battery Installation

  1. Open the battery compartment on the back of the chime unit.
  2. Insert three AAA/LR6 batteries (not included), observing the correct polarity (+/-).
  3. Close the battery compartment cover.

4.3. Mounting the Bell Push

The bell push can be mounted using the supplied double-sided adhesive tape or screws (not included).

  • Adhesive Tape: Clean the desired mounting surface thoroughly. Apply the double-sided tape to the back of the bell push and firmly press it onto the surface.
  • Screws: Use appropriate screws (not included) to secure the bell push to the wall through the designated mounting holes.

Ensure the bell push is installed in a location where it is easily accessible to visitors and within the 100-meter wireless range of the chime unit.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Selecting Melodies

The chime unit offers 36 different melodies. To change the melody:

  1. Locate the melody selection button on the side of the chime unit.
  2. Press the button repeatedly to cycle through the available melodies. The chime will play each melody as you press the button.
  3. Stop pressing when you hear your desired melody. It will be saved automatically.

5.2. Adjusting Volume

The chime unit has 4 adjustable volume levels (25%, 50%, 75%, 100% of maximum 80 dB). To adjust the volume:

  1. Locate the volume control button on the side of the chime unit.
  2. Press the button repeatedly to cycle through the volume levels.
  3. Stop pressing when you reach your desired volume level.

5.3. Using the Doorbell

Once installed and configured, simply press the bell push button to activate the chime unit. The chime unit will play the selected melody at the set volume level.

5.4. Expanding the System

The Byron DBY-21131 system is expandable. You can connect additional Byron bell pushes to the same chime unit, or add extra chime units to work with your existing bell push(es). This allows for multiple entry points or chimes in different areas of your home. Different melodies can be assigned to individual bell pushes to distinguish between different doors (e.g., front door vs. back door).

6. Maintenance

6.1. Battery Replacement

Replace batteries when the chime unit or bell push stops functioning or when the range decreases significantly.

  • Bell Push: Replace the CR2032 battery as described in Section 4.1.
  • Chime Unit: Replace the three AAA/LR6 batteries as described in Section 4.2.

6.2. Cleaning

Wipe the units with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
