4.1 Wiring Diagram Overview

Image: A detailed wiring diagram showing the connection of the iVolt Mini to a vehicle's interior fuse box and a Thinkware dash cam. Components include ACC Power Input, Fuse Holder, Hardwiring Cable, Ground to Chassis (GND), Constant Power Cable, Output Cable, BAB-50 Main Unit, and Dash Cam.
The diagram illustrates the connections: the ACC Power Input from the interior fuse box connects via a Fuse Holder and Hardwiring Cable to the iVolt Mini. The iVolt Mini's output connects to the Dash Cam via a Constant Power Cable. A separate Ground to Chassis (GND) connection is also shown for the Hardwiring Cable.
4.2 Installation Steps
- Locate Fuse Box: Identify your vehicle's interior fuse box, typically located under the dashboard or in the engine bay. Consult your vehicle's manual for exact location.
- Identify ACC Fuse: Using a circuit tester, locate an ACC (Accessory) fuse slot that receives power only when the vehicle's ignition is on. Ensure it's a 20 amp or larger fuse for optimal charging.
- Connect Hardwiring Cable: Attach the provided fuse tap to the ACC wire of the hardwiring cable. Insert the fuse tap into the identified ACC fuse slot. Connect the ground wire of the hardwiring cable to a metal, non-coated screw or bolt on the vehicle's chassis.
- Connect Output Cable: Connect the output cable from the iVolt Mini to your Thinkware dash cam's power input.
- Mount iVolt Mini: Use the included Velcro strips to securely mount the iVolt Mini in a discreet location, such as under a seat. Ensure proper ventilation.
- Cable Management: Route all cables neatly behind vehicle trim using the provided trim tool to ensure a clean and safe installation.

6. Maintenance
- Regular Checks: Periodically inspect all cable connections to ensure they are secure and free from damage.
- Temperature: Avoid exposing the iVolt Mini to extreme temperatures outside its operating range (-10°C to 60°C discharge) to prolong its lifespan.
- Cleaning: Keep the unit clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
- Battery Health: The LiFePO4 battery chemistry is designed for long life, but consistent deep discharges or prolonged storage in extreme conditions can affect overall battery health.
7. Troubleshooting
- Battery Not Charging: Check all hardwire connections to the fuse box and chassis. Ensure the vehicle's ignition is on and the ACC fuse is receiving power. Verify the charging rate switch on the iVolt Mini is set to 'LOW' or 'HIGH'.
- Dash Cam Not Powering On in Parking Mode: Confirm the iVolt Mini is fully charged (FULL indicator light is solid green). Check the output cable connection to the dash cam. Ensure parking mode is correctly configured in your dash cam's settings.
- Short Parking Mode Duration: Verify the dash cam's power consumption in parking mode. Ensure the iVolt Mini is fully charged before parking. Extreme cold temperatures can temporarily reduce battery performance.
- Intermittent Power: Inspect all cables for any signs of damage or loose connections. Ensure the fuse tap is securely seated in the fuse box.
