5. Operation

The Maclean MC-864 is a passive support structure. Its primary function is to provide a stable base for your external unit. Once installed, ensure the following:

  • The supported unit is level and does not wobble. Adjust the feet as necessary.
  • All fasteners remain tight. Periodically check for any loosening.
  • The area around the unit and support is clear of obstructions to allow for proper airflow and maintenance.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safety of your Maclean MC-864 floor support:

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the support frame to remove dirt, dust, and debris. A damp cloth is usually sufficient. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Inspection: Annually inspect the galvanized steel frame for any signs of corrosion, rust, or structural damage. Check all bolted connections for tightness.
  • Adjustable Feet: Ensure the rubber pads on the adjustable feet are intact and providing adequate vibration dampening. Replace if worn or damaged.
  • Environmental Factors: If exposed to harsh weather conditions, more frequent inspections may be necessary.

7. Troubleshooting

Refer to the following for common issues:

  • Instability/Wobbling:
    • Ensure the support is placed on a level surface.
    • Adjust the individual feet to level the support.
    • Verify all screws and nuts are fully tightened.
  • Unit Does Not Fit:
    • Re-check the adjustable width and depth settings against your unit's dimensions.
    • Ensure the unit's weight and BTU rating do not exceed the support's specifications (70 kg / 36,000 BTU).
  • Corrosion/Rust:
    • While made of galvanized steel, prolonged exposure to extreme conditions can cause wear. Clean and apply rust-inhibiting paint if minor surface rust appears. For significant corrosion, consider replacement.
