1. Product Overview
The Maxspect Jump Gyre MJ-GF2K is an advanced crossflow circulation pump designed for aquariums, providing efficient and near-silent water movement. Utilizing the same sinusoidal wave technology found in the high-end Gyre 300 series, this pump ensures optimal water flow for a healthy aquatic environment. The MJ-GF2K model is rated at 7500 liters per hour (approximately 1980 GPH) and is suitable for aquariums ranging from 50 to 250 liters (approximately 13 to 66 gallons). It includes a flow director plug, making it adaptable for smaller nano systems.
The pump comes with two sets of rotors: one elegant orange set and an additional black set for those preferring a more subdued aesthetic. It is supplied as a single-pump controller set, with the controller capable of running programmable 24-hour cycles across multiple flow modes.

2. Safety Instructions
Please read and understand all safety instructions before operating the Maxspect Jump Gyre MJ-GF2K pump. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury or damage to the product or aquarium.
- Electrical Safety: Always disconnect power to the pump and all other aquarium equipment before performing any maintenance, installation, or handling. Ensure your hands are dry when handling electrical components.
- Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI): Always connect the pump to a GFCI-protected outlet.
- Indoor Use Only: This product is designed for indoor use in an aquarium environment only. Do not use it for any other purpose or outdoors.
- Water Immersion: The pump is designed to be fully submersible. The controller and power supply are NOT waterproof and must be kept dry.
- Cable Management: Arrange the power cord to prevent tripping hazards and to ensure it does not come into contact with water. Create a "drip loop" to prevent water from traveling along the cord to the outlet.
- Children and Pets: Keep the product and its components out of reach of children and pets.
- Damage Inspection: Do not operate the pump if the power cord, plug, or any other component is damaged. Contact customer support for assistance.
- Disassembly: Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the pump or controller beyond routine maintenance as described in this manual. Unauthorized modifications will void the warranty.
- Temperature: Do not operate the pump in water temperatures exceeding 35°C (95°F) or below 4°C (39°F).

4. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to properly install your Maxspect Jump Gyre MJ-GF2K pump in your aquarium.
- Choose Placement: Select a location in your aquarium that allows for optimal water circulation. Crossflow pumps are typically placed horizontally near the water surface, on the side or back wall. Ensure the pump is fully submerged when operating.
- Prepare Magnetic Mount: The pump uses a magnetic mount. Place the inner magnetic bracket onto the pump unit. Position the pump inside the aquarium at your desired location.
- Secure External Magnet: Align the external magnetic bracket on the outside of the aquarium glass, directly opposite the internal magnet. The strong magnets will hold the pump securely in place. The maximum glass thickness supported is 15mm.
- Connect to Controller: Connect the pump's cable to the designated port on the controller unit. Ensure the connection is secure.
- Connect Power Supply: Connect the power supply adapter to the controller unit, then plug the power cord into the power supply.
- Plug into Outlet: Plug the power cord into a GFCI-protected electrical outlet. Ensure a drip loop is formed with the power cord to prevent water from reaching the outlet.
- Optional Flow Director Plug: If using the pump in a smaller nano system or to direct flow more precisely, insert the provided flow director plug into one end of the pump's rotor housing. This will restrict flow from that side, concentrating it to the other.

5. Operating Instructions
The Maxspect Jump Gyre MJ-GF2K controller allows for various flow modes and programmable cycles to suit your aquarium's needs.
Controller Overview:
The controller features a display screen and several buttons for navigation and setting adjustments. Refer to the controller's specific button layout for detailed operation.
- Power Button: Turns the pump ON/OFF.
- Mode Button: Cycles through different flow modes (e.g., Constant Flow, Pulsing, Random, Gyre).
- +/- Buttons: Adjust flow intensity or navigate menu options.
- Set Button: Confirms selections or enters programming mode.
Flow Modes:
The controller offers multiple flow modes to simulate natural reef environments:
- Constant Flow: Provides a steady, continuous flow at a set intensity.
- Pulsing Mode: Creates a wave-like motion by rapidly increasing and decreasing flow.
- Random Mode: Varies flow intensity and pattern unpredictably.
- Gyre Mode: Optimized for creating a broad, laminar flow across the entire aquarium length.
Programming 24-Hour Cycles:
The controller allows you to set up a 24-hour schedule, switching between different flow modes and intensities throughout the day. Consult the controller's specific instructions for detailed programming steps. This typically involves:
- Entering programming mode.
- Setting start and end times for each program segment.
- Selecting the desired flow mode and intensity for each segment.
- Saving the program.
Note: This pump cannot be used in a 2-pump, 1-controller version and is not compatible with the SYNA G application.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of your Maxspect Jump Gyre pump. Always disconnect power before performing any maintenance.
Routine Cleaning (Monthly):
- Disconnect Power: Unplug the pump from the power outlet.
- Remove from Aquarium: Carefully remove the pump unit from the aquarium.
- Disassemble: Gently twist and pull apart the pump housing to access the rotors and impellers. Note the orientation of all parts for reassembly.
- Clean Components: Use a soft brush (like a toothbrush) and warm water to remove any algae, detritus, or calcium buildup from the rotors, impellers, and pump housing. For stubborn calcium deposits, a mild vinegar solution can be used. Rinse thoroughly with fresh water.
- Inspect Parts: Check the rotors, impellers, and shafts for any signs of wear, cracks, or damage. Replace any worn parts.
- Reassemble: Carefully reassemble the pump, ensuring all parts fit snugly and are correctly oriented.
- Reinstall: Reinstall the pump in the aquarium and reconnect power.
Rotor Replacement:
The pump comes with an additional set of black rotors. You can replace the orange rotors with the black ones, or replace worn rotors as needed. Follow the disassembly and reassembly steps from the "Routine Cleaning" section to swap out the rotors.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Maxspect Jump Gyre pump, refer to the following troubleshooting guide. If the problem persists, contact Maxspect customer support.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Pump not turning on. | No power to the unit. Loose connection. Controller malfunction. | Check if the power cord is securely plugged into the outlet and the controller. Ensure the outlet has power (test with another device). Verify all connections between pump, controller, and power supply. |
| Pump running but with reduced flow. | Algae or debris buildup on rotors/impellers. Worn rotors/impellers. Incorrect mode setting. | Disconnect power and clean the pump thoroughly as per maintenance instructions. Inspect rotors and impellers for wear and replace if necessary. Check the controller settings to ensure the desired flow intensity is selected. |
| Pump making unusual noise. | Debris lodged in pump. Worn rotors/impellers or shaft. Improper assembly after cleaning. | Disconnect power and inspect the pump for any foreign objects. Clean the pump thoroughly. Check for worn parts and replace if needed. Ensure all components are correctly reassembled. |
| Controller display is blank or unresponsive. | Power issue. Controller malfunction. | Ensure the power supply is connected and receiving power. Try unplugging and replugging the power supply. If the issue persists, the controller may be faulty. |
