2. Important Safety Information

Always follow basic safety precautions when installing and operating this electrical equipment. Failure to do so could result in serious injury or death.

  • DANGER: Risk of electrical shock. Connect only to a grounded receptacle protected by a ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI).
  • Do not bury electrical cord. Locate cord to prevent damage from lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, and other equipment.
  • Do not remove the grounding prong from the plug.
  • Ensure the pump is installed on a solid, level surface to prevent vibration and noise.
  • Always disconnect power before servicing the pump or strainer basket.
  • Keep children away from the pump and pool area during operation.

4. Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the pump's performance and longevity. This pump is designed for above-ground pool applications.

  1. Location: Place the pump on a firm, level base, as close to the pool as possible to minimize friction loss from long suction lines. Ensure adequate ventilation around the motor.
  2. Electrical Connection: The pump operates on 115 Volts. Connect the pump to a properly grounded, GFCI-protected electrical outlet. Ensure the electrical supply matches the pump's requirements.
  3. Plumbing: Connect the pump to your pool's filtration system using appropriate plumbing. The pump includes 1.5" NPT inlet/outlet slip-on fittings for easy connection. Ensure all connections are tight to prevent air leaks, especially on the suction side.
  4. Priming: Before starting the pump, ensure the strainer basket is filled with water. This primes the pump and prevents dry running, which can damage the motor.

5. Operating Instructions

Your XtremepowerUS pool pump features two speed settings for optimal performance and energy efficiency.

  • Starting the Pump: Ensure the pump is properly primed and all valves are open. Turn on the power supply to the pump.
  • Speed Settings: The pump offers two speeds:
    • Low Speed (Energy Saving): Approximately 1,750 RPM. Ideal for routine filtration and maintaining water clarity with reduced energy consumption and quieter operation.
    • High Speed (High Efficiency): Approximately 3,450 RPM. Use for faster water turnover, backwashing, or when higher flow is required, such as during heavy use or after adding chemicals.
  • Monitoring: Regularly check the transparent lid of the strainer basket for debris. A clear lid allows you to see when the basket needs cleaning without opening it.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your pool pump.

  1. Strainer Basket Cleaning: The oversized strainer basket collects debris to prevent clogging. When the transparent lid indicates the basket is full, turn off the pump and disconnect power. Remove the lid, empty the basket, rinse it, and replace it securely. Ensure the O-ring is clean and properly seated before re-securing the lid.
  2. Motor Ventilation: Ensure the motor's air-flow ventilation is not obstructed. Keep the area around the pump clear of debris to allow for proper cooling.
  3. Winterization: In colder climates, drain the pump completely and store it in a dry, frost-free location during winter months to prevent damage from freezing water.
  4. Heat Resistance: The pump is designed to handle water temperatures up to 104°F (40°C). Avoid operating the pump with water temperatures exceeding this limit.
