1. Introduction

The TechniSat TECHNIRADIO RDR is a portable digital and FM radio designed for on-the-go listening. 5. Setup

5.1. Battery Installation and Charging

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the rear of the device.
  2. Open the battery compartment cover.
  3. Insert the provided Lithium-Ion battery, ensuring correct polarity.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.
  5. Connect the mini USB charging cable to the mini-USB port on the side of the radio and to a suitable USB power adapter (not included) or a computer USB port.
  6. The battery indicator on the display will show charging status. A full charge typically takes several hours.

5.2. Initial Power On

  1. After charging, disconnect the USB cable.
  2. Press and hold the power button (usually integrated with the MOD button or a dedicated button, refer to specific button layout if available) to turn on the radio.
  3. Upon first use, the radio may automatically initiate a DAB+ scan.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Mode Selection

Press the MOD button repeatedly to cycle through available modes: DAB+, FM, USB, and AUX.

6.2. DAB+ Radio Operation

  1. Switch to DAB+ mode using the MOD button.
  2. If it's the first time or if stations need to be updated, perform a full scan:
    • Press the M (Menu) button.
    • Use the < / > buttons to navigate to "Full Scan" and press OK.
    • The radio will scan for available DAB+ stations and store them.
  3. To select a station, use the < / > buttons to browse the station list. Press OK to confirm.
  4. To save a favorite station:
    • Tune to the desired station.
    • Press and hold the M button until "Preset Store" appears.
    • Use < / > to select a preset number (1-20) and press OK.
  5. To recall a favorite station, briefly press the M button, use < / > to select the preset, and press OK. Alternatively, use the direct dial buttons 1-4 if assigned.
  6. Press the I (Info) button to cycle through different information displays (e.g., program type, signal strength).

6.3. FM Radio Operation

  1. Switch to FM mode using the MOD button.
  2. To auto-scan for stations:
    • Press and hold the < or > button to automatically search for the next available station.
  3. To manually tune, briefly press the < or > button to adjust the frequency step by step.
  4. To save a favorite station, follow the same procedure as DAB+ (press and hold M, select preset, OK).
  5. To recall a favorite station, briefly press M, select preset, OK, or use direct dial buttons 1-4.
  6. The radio supports RDS (Radio Data System), which displays station name and other information. Press the I (Info) button to cycle through available RDS data.

6.4. USB MP3 Playback

  1. Insert a USB storage device (e.g., USB stick) containing MP3 files into the USB Type-A port.
  2. Switch to USB mode using the MOD button.
  3. The radio will automatically detect and start playing MP3 files.
  4. Use the < / > buttons to skip tracks.
  5. The OK button may function as Play/Pause.

6.5. AUX-IN Usage

  1. Connect an external audio device (e.g., smartphone, MP3 player) to the AUX-IN jack using a 3.5mm audio cable (not included).
  2. Switch to AUX mode using the MOD button.
  3. Control playback and volume directly from your connected external device.

6.6. LED Torch Function

Press the LED button to turn the integrated LED torch on or off.

ProblemPossible Cause / Solution
No power / Device does not turn on.
  • Battery is discharged. Charge the battery fully.
  • Battery is not correctly inserted. Check battery polarity and connection.
  • Battery is faulty. Replace the battery.
No DAB+ stations found.
  • Poor reception area. Try moving the radio to a different location, preferably near a window.
  • Antenna not extended. Ensure the telescopic antenna is fully extended.
  • Full scan not performed. Perform a full scan in DAB+ mode.
Poor FM reception / Static.
  • Weak signal. Adjust the position of the radio and antenna.
  • Interference from other electronic devices. Move the radio away from other electronics.
USB playback not working.
  • USB device not properly inserted. Reinsert the USB device.
  • USB device not formatted correctly or unsupported file system. Ensure it's FAT32.
  • Files are not MP3 format. Only MP3 files are supported.
  • USB device is faulty or incompatible. Try a different USB device.
No sound from AUX-IN.
  • AUX cable not connected properly. Check both ends of the cable.
  • Volume on external device is too low. Increase volume on the connected device.
  • Incorrect mode selected. Ensure the radio is in AUX mode.
  • Faulty AUX cable. Try a different cable.
