5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

To maintain the appearance of your clock:

  • Wipe the wooden case with a soft, dry cloth.
  • For the crystal glass, use a soft, lint-free cloth and a mild glass cleaner if necessary. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents, as these may damage the finish.

5.2 Battery Replacement

Replace the C battery annually or immediately if the clock stops running or the chimes become weak or inconsistent. Follow the battery installation steps in Section 3.2.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Clock not running: Check if the battery is inserted correctly with the correct polarity. Replace the battery if it is old or depleted.
  • Chimes not sounding: Ensure the chime volume is not set to minimum or off. Verify the battery is fresh. The automatic chime silencer may be active if it's between 11 PM and 6 AM.
  • Incorrect time: Adjust the time using the setting knob on the back of the clock.
  • Irregular chimes: This could indicate a low battery. Replace the C battery.
