Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your Magnus REX VT-5000 2-Stage Video Tripod with Fluid Head. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the product to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
Components Overview
The Magnus REX VT-5000 system includes the following main components:
- Fluid Head (VT-5000H)
- 2-Stage Tripod Legs (TL750A)

Setup Instructions
1. Unpacking and Initial Assembly
- Remove all components from the padded carry bag.
- Place the tripod legs on a flat, stable surface.
- Release the leg locks and extend the legs to a desired height.

2. Attaching the Mid-Level Spreader
The mid-level spreader is pre-attached. To adjust its spread:
- Loosen the locking knobs on each arm of the spreader.
- Adjust the legs to the desired spread for stability or height.
- Tighten the locking knobs to secure the spreader in place. The legs can be closed with the spreader attached for transport.

3. Adjusting Feet for Different Surfaces
The tripod features dual-spiked feet for soft surfaces and removable rubber feet for hard or delicate surfaces.
- For soft ground (e.g., grass, dirt), use the spiked feet for maximum grip.
- For hard or delicate surfaces (e.g., studio floor, concrete), attach the rubber feet over the spiked feet.

4. Mounting the Camera Plate
- Locate the quick-release plate on the fluid head.
- Press the red release button and slide the plate out of the head.
- Attach the camera plate to the bottom of your camera or camera cage using either the 1/4"-20 or 3/8"-16 tie-down screw. Ensure the spring-loaded locating pin engages if your camera has a compatible slot.
- Slide the camera with the attached plate back into the fluid head until it clicks securely into place.

Operating Instructions
1. Adjusting Fluid Head Controls
The fluid head offers precise control over camera movement.
- Tilt Drag: Use the variable tilt drag knob to adjust the resistance for tilting movements. Turn clockwise for more drag, counter-clockwise for less.
- Pan Drag: The pan drag is fixed, providing consistent resistance for horizontal movements.
- Counterbalance: The head features spring-loaded counterbalance to assist with balancing heavier camera setups and prevent accidental tilting.

2. Balancing Your Camera
Proper camera balance is crucial for smooth operation.
- With the camera mounted, unlock the tilt mechanism.
- Adjust the position of the camera on the sliding balance plate (3.25" travel) until the camera remains level at any tilt angle without assistance.
- Lock the tilt mechanism once balanced.
3. Using the Pan Handle
The pan handle allows for precise manual control of pan and tilt movements.
- The head features two pan handle rosettes, allowing for left- or right-handed operation.
- Attach the included pan handle to your preferred rosette and tighten the locking screw.
- Use the pan handle to smoothly pan and tilt your camera.
4. Accessory Mounting
Two 1/4"-20 threaded accessory mounting holes are integrated into the head for attaching articulating arms, monitors, or other accessories.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe down the tripod and fluid head with a soft, dry cloth after each use. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Storage: When not in use, collapse the tripod legs and secure them with the elastic line and hook. Store the tripod in its padded carry bag in a dry, cool place to protect it from dust and damage.
- Inspection: Periodically check all screws, knobs, and leg locks to ensure they are tight and functioning correctly. Do not overtighten.
