Key Features
- Multi-Hole Pad System: Allows flexibility to use a wide variety of 5-inch abrasive discs.
- Dual Mode: Provides two sanding modes: random orbit mode for normal stock removal or fine finishing, and "turbo" driven eccentric orbit mode for aggressive stock removal at 3X the rate of standard random-orbit action.
- Variable Speed: Powerful 6.5 amp variable speed motor (290 to 640 RPM no-load speed, 3300 to 7300 OPM no-load orbit speed) for power and flexibility.
- Ergonomic Design: Tapered top handgrip with soft-grip design for comfort.
- Auxiliary Handle: Mounts on either side of the sander for outstanding control.
- Integral Pad-Dampening Braking System: Helps prevent swirl marks for a smooth finish.
- Passive Dust Collection System: Requires a vacuum cleaner and hoses (accepts Bosch VAC001, VAC009, VAC010 hoses or VAC002 adapter).
Setup

Attaching Sanding Discs
The multi-hole pad system is compatible with various 5-inch abrasive discs. Align the holes on the sanding disc with the holes on the backing pad and press firmly to secure it via the hook-and-loop system.
Operating Instructions
Powering On/Off and Variable Speed Control
To power on the sander, slide the ON/OFF switch to the 'ON' position. Adjust the sanding speed using the variable speed dial located on the tool. For finer finishes, use lower speeds; for aggressive material removal, use higher speeds.

Dual-Mode Operation
- Random Orbit Mode: Ideal for general sanding, fine finishing, and achieving a swirl-free surface. This mode orbits and rotates the sanding pad.
- Turbo Mode: Engages a direct-drive, eccentric-orbit action for aggressive stock removal, comparable to a belt sander. Use this mode for rapid material removal on rough surfaces. Be aware that turbo mode can be more difficult to control and may leave swirl marks if not followed by random orbit mode.
Sanding Techniques
Apply light, even pressure across the workpiece. Move the sander in overlapping passes to ensure uniform sanding. Avoid excessive pressure, which can lead to swirl marks and reduced sanding efficiency.

Safety Precautions
- Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including eye protection, hearing protection, and a dust mask.
- Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped or stable before sanding.
- Keep hands and loose clothing away from the rotating pad.
- Disconnect the power supply before changing sanding discs or performing maintenance.

Maintenance
Cleaning the Dust Collection System
Regularly empty the dust bag or vacuum canister. Inspect the dust port and hose for any blockages and clear them to maintain optimal dust collection efficiency.
Inspecting and Replacing the Backing Pad
Periodically check the soft microcellular hook-and-loop backing pad for wear or damage. A worn pad can affect sanding performance and lead to swirl marks. Replace the pad as needed using the hex pad wrench.
General Cleaning
Wipe down the exterior of the sander with a clean, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Ensure ventilation openings are clear of debris to prevent overheating.
Troubleshooting
- Excessive Swirl Marks: Ensure you are using the correct sanding mode (random orbit for finishing), applying light, even pressure, and using a fresh, appropriate grit sanding disc. A worn backing pad can also contribute to swirl marks.
- Poor Dust Collection: Check that the dust collection hose is securely attached and not blocked. Ensure your vacuum cleaner is functioning correctly and has sufficient suction.
- Reduced Material Removal: Verify that the sanding disc is not clogged or worn out. Ensure you are using an appropriate grit for the task and consider switching to turbo mode for aggressive removal.
- Excessive Vibration: Check that the sanding disc is properly centered and securely attached. Ensure the backing pad is not damaged.
