5. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your PAX A920 Multifunctional Charging Base:

  1. Connect Power: Insert the Micro USB power cable (not included, typically supplied with the A920 terminal or a compatible power adapter) into the "POWER" port on the rear of the charging base. Connect the other end of the power cable to a suitable power source.
  2. Network Connection (Optional): If you require a wired network connection for your A920 terminal, connect an Ethernet cable to the "LAN" port on the rear of the base and the other end to your network router or switch.
  3. Peripheral Connection (Optional): Connect any USB peripherals (e.g., barcode scanner, external keyboard) to the "USB A-HOST" or "USB B-HOST" ports. For specific serial devices, connect them to the "RS232" port.
  4. Place Terminal: Carefully place your PAX A920 terminal onto the charging cradle of the base, ensuring that the charging contacts on the terminal align with those on the base. The terminal should sit securely in the cradle.
  5. Verify Connection: Once the terminal is seated, it should begin charging, indicated by the charging icon on the terminal's screen. If connected, network and peripheral devices should also be recognized by the terminal.

6. Operating Instructions

The PAX A920 Multifunctional Charging Base operates primarily as a charging station and a connectivity hub for your A920 terminal.

6.1 Charging the Terminal

  • Ensure the charging base is connected to a power source.
  • Place the PAX A920 terminal onto the base. The terminal's battery will begin charging automatically.
  • The charging status will be displayed on the A920 terminal's screen.

6.2 Using Connectivity Ports

  • LAN: Provides a stable wired internet connection to the A920 terminal when it is docked. This is ideal for environments requiring consistent network access.
  • USB A-HOST / USB B-HOST: These ports allow you to connect various USB peripherals directly to the base, which then communicate with the docked A920 terminal. Examples include external keyboards, barcode scanners, or USB flash drives for data transfer.
  • RS232: This serial port is for connecting specialized legacy devices or industrial equipment that communicate via RS232 protocol.

Ensure that the A920 terminal is properly docked for all connectivity features to function.

7. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your charging base.

  • Cleaning: Disconnect the power before cleaning. Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to wipe the exterior of the base. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or strong chemicals.
  • Contacts: Periodically inspect the charging contacts on the base for any dust or debris. Gently clean them with a dry cotton swab if necessary.
  • Storage: If storing the base for an extended period, keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
