4.1 Front Panel

  • LCD Touchscreen: Displays real-time UPS and power status, including voltage, load, and battery data.
  • Power Button: Used to turn the UPS on or off.

4.2 Rear Panel

  • Battery/Surge Protected Outlets (x6): Provide both battery backup and surge suppression for critical equipment.
  • Surge Protected Outlets (x2): Offer surge suppression only for non-critical peripherals.
  • USB Port: Connects to a computer for power management and graceful shutdowns using PowerAlert software.
  • RJ45 Jacks (1 In/1 Out): Provide surge protection for telephone/network lines.
  • AC Input Cord: 5-ft. (1.52 m) cord with NEMA 5-15P plug for connection to a standard wall outlet.

5. Setup

5.1 Initial Placement

Place the UPS on a stable, flat surface in an environment with adequate ventilation. Avoid placing it near windows, heat sources, or areas with high humidity.

5.2 Connecting to AC Power

  1. Plug the UPS's 5-ft. (1.52 m) AC input cord into a properly grounded NEMA 5-15R wall outlet.
  2. Allow the UPS to charge for 24 hours before initial use to ensure full battery capacity. The UPS will charge whether it is turned on or off.

5.3 Connecting Equipment

  1. Plug critical equipment (e.g., computer, monitor) into the six Battery/Surge Protected outlets. These outlets provide continuous power during outages.
  2. Plug non-critical equipment (e.g., printer, speakers) into the two Surge Protected outlets. These outlets only provide surge protection and do not offer battery backup.
  3. Ensure the total load connected to the UPS does not exceed 600W.

5.4 Connecting USB for Software

Connect the included USB cable from the UPS's USB port to your computer's USB port. Download and install Tripp Lite's PowerAlert software from the official Tripp Lite website to enable advanced power management features, including graceful system shutdowns during prolonged power failures. The UPS is also HID-compliant and works with built-in power management features of Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems.

5.5 Connecting Tel/DSL/Ethernet

For surge protection of your telephone or network line, connect your incoming line to the RJ45 'IN' jack on the UPS and then connect the 'OUT' jack to your device (e.g., modem, router). Note: These ports are not for Power over Ethernet (PoE) applications.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Turning the UPS On/Off

  • To Turn On: Press and hold the Power Button for approximately one second until you hear a beep. The LCD will illuminate.
  • To Turn Off: Press and hold the Power Button for approximately one second until you hear a beep and the LCD turns off.

6.2 LCD Touchscreen Display

The LCD touchscreen provides five screens of real-time information about the UPS and site power conditions. Tap the screen to cycle through displays such as:

  • Input Voltage
  • Output Voltage
  • Load Percentage
  • Battery Charge Level
  • Estimated Runtime
  • Fault Conditions

6.3 Audible Alarms

The UPS emits audible alarms to indicate specific conditions:

  • Low Battery: Indicates the battery charge is critically low during a power outage.
  • Excessive Load: Warns of an overload condition on the UPS outlets.
  • Fault Condition: Signals an internal error or malfunction.

6.4 Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR)

The OMNIVS1200LCD features Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) to protect your equipment from voltage fluctuations. It automatically corrects brownouts as low as 89V and overvoltages as high as 145V back to a nominal 120V output without using battery power. This ensures a stable power supply and prolongs battery life.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Battery Replacement

The UPS contains a replaceable internal battery. The typical battery lifespan is 3-5 years, depending on usage and environmental conditions. When the battery needs replacement, the UPS may indicate a fault or reduced runtime. Contact Tripp Lite customer support or a qualified service technician for battery replacement. Do not attempt to replace the battery yourself unless you are a qualified professional.

7.2 Cleaning

Periodically clean the exterior of the UPS with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners. Ensure ventilation openings are free from dust and obstructions.

7.3 Storage

If storing the UPS for an extended period, ensure the battery is fully charged. Recharge the battery every 3-6 months to prevent permanent damage. Store the unit in a cool, dry place.

8. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your UPS. For more detailed troubleshooting, refer to the PowerAlert software documentation or contact Tripp Lite support.
