1. Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the LEAP Digital Chess Clock, Model PQ9917. Designed for various two-player games including International Chess, Chinese Chess, I-GO, and Scrabble, this advanced digital timer offers multiple functions such as countdown, count-up, bonus time, delay (Fischer) settings, and an alarm. Please read this manual thoroughly to ensure proper use and to maximize your gaming experience.

3. Setup
3.1. Battery Installation
The LEAP Digital Chess Clock requires one (1) AA battery (not included in some packages). Ensure the battery is inserted with the correct polarity.
- Locate the battery compartment on the bottom of the clock.
- Slide open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert one AA battery, ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals match the indicators inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.

3.2. Power On/Off
To turn the clock ON or OFF, press the [ON/OFF] switch located at the bottom of the timer. When turned off, the timer will retain the last used timing settings. If the battery is removed and reinstalled, the timer will beep and start with default settings.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1. Starting and Pausing the Game
- After turning on the clock, use the rocker switch (the side where it starts) to choose which player starts (white player usually starts).
- Press the [► ||] button briefly to start the timer.
- To pause or resume the game, press the [► ||] button again.
- Adjust the rocker switch (lever) during a pause to switch between players.

4.2. Setting Game Time (Settings Mode)
To set or change the game time:
- Turn on the clock.
- Press and hold the [► ||] button for two seconds to enter the settings mode. The first digit on the left side of the timer will flash.
- Use the [+] or [-] buttons to increase or decrease the flashing value.
- Press the [► ||] button briefly to move to the next digit (hours, minutes, seconds) on the left side of the timer.
- After setting the left side, press the [► ||] button to move to the first digit on the right side of the timer. The settings from the left side are automatically copied to the right side. You can adjust the right side independently if needed.
- To quickly move through hours, minutes, and seconds without making changes, short press the [► ||] button.
- After all settings are complete, press and hold the [► ||] button for two seconds to exit the setting mode.
Setting Sequence: Game time (hour/minute/second) on the left side → Game time (hour/minute/second) on the right side → Bonus time on the left side → Bonus time on the right side → Delay time on the left side → Delay time on the right side → UP (ON/OFF).
Time Setting Range: Game time: 0 - 9h59'59". Bonus time: 0 - 59". Delay time: 0 - 59".

4.3. Alarm On/Off
Press and hold the [-] button for two seconds to turn the alarm ON or OFF. When the alarm is activated, a speaker icon will be shown on the display. At zero seconds, there will be a long beep. During the last 5 seconds of a period, a beep will be heard every second.
4.4. Count-Up Mode
If the "UP" icon is displayed, the count-up mode is active. The game time will count up from 0:00.00 after the countdown ends. If "UP OFF" icon is displayed, count-up mode will not be active, and the game time will end at 0:00.00.

4.5. Checking and Changing Move Number
In pause mode, press and hold the [+] button for two seconds to enter the move number modification mode. Use [+] and [-] to adjust the digit or use [► ||] to move to the next digit. When all moves have been modified, press the [► ||] key to exit.
5. Display Indicators

| DELAY | Displayed when delay time is enabled. |
| UP | Displayed when count-up time is active. |
| ◷ (Battery Icon) | Indicates low battery. |

6. Maintenance
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or high temperatures to prevent discoloration or damage.
- Do not expose the product to water or corrosive liquids. This product is not water resistant.
- Keep the clock away from strong static objects, high magnetic fields, and electronic devices like speakers to prevent damage or malfunction.
- Replace batteries when the low battery symbol (◷) appears on the display. Ensure new batteries are inserted with correct polarity.
7. Troubleshooting
7.1. Clock Not Turning On
- Check if the battery is correctly installed with the proper polarity.
- Ensure the battery is not depleted. Replace with a fresh AA battery if necessary.
- Verify that the ON/OFF switch on the bottom of the clock is in the "ON" position.
7.2. Display Issues
- If the display is dim or flickering, replace the battery.
- If the display shows "Error" during setting, re-enter the setting mode and ensure all steps are followed correctly.
7.3. Alarm Not Sounding
- Ensure the alarm function is turned ON by pressing and holding the [-] button for two seconds until the speaker icon appears.
