1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your new VLAND LED Headlights. These headlights are designed for direct OEM fitment on Mitsubishi Lancer and EVO X models manufactured between 2008 and 2020. Please read this manual thoroughly before beginning installation or operation to ensure proper function and safety.

2. Safety Information

  • Always disconnect the vehicle's battery before performing any electrical work to prevent electrical shock or damage to the vehicle's electrical system.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and gloves, during installation.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface with the parking brake engaged.
  • If you are unsure about any step of the installation process, consult a qualified automotive technician.
  • Keep all boxes, labels, and user manuals. In the event merchandise is damaged, becomes defective, or needs to be returned, please provide the product label, video, and picture proof clearly showing the defect.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all components are present and undamaged before proceeding with installation:

  • 2 x VLAND LED Headlight Assemblies (Left and Right)
  • Necessary Wiring Harnesses for Plug and Play Installation
  • Installation Hardware (if applicable)

Note: D2H/D2S bulbs for low beam are NOT included and must be purchased separately. Ballasts will be needed if using Xenon bulbs.

4. Setup and Installation

The VLAND LED Headlights are designed for OEM direct fitment, requiring no vehicle modifications for installation. However, bumper removal is typically necessary to access and replace the factory headlamps.

4.1. Pre-Installation Steps

  1. Park the vehicle on a flat, stable surface.
  2. Engage the parking brake.
  3. Disconnect the negative terminal of the vehicle's battery.
  4. Carefully remove the front bumper to gain access to the factory headlights. Refer to your vehicle's service manual for specific bumper removal procedures.

4.2. Headlight Replacement

  1. Locate and disconnect the electrical connectors and any mounting bolts securing the factory headlight assembly.
  2. Carefully remove the old headlight assembly from the vehicle.
  3. Install your new VLAND LED Headlight assembly, ensuring all mounting points align.
  4. Connect the provided wiring harnesses to the vehicle's existing electrical connectors. The headlights are designed for plug-and-play installation.
  5. If using D2H/D2S Xenon bulbs, ensure appropriate ballasts are connected as per bulb manufacturer instructions.
  6. Secure the headlight assembly with the original mounting bolts.
  7. Repeat the process for the other side.

4.3. Post-Installation

  1. Reconnect the vehicle's battery.
  2. Test all lighting functions: Daytime Running Lights (DRL), low beam, high beam, and sequential turn signals.
  3. Adjust the headlight aim using the provided adjusting screws (Left/Right and Up/Down) to ensure proper beam pattern and avoid blinding oncoming traffic.
  4. Reinstall the front bumper.

5. Operating Instructions

Your VLAND LED Headlights feature several advanced lighting functions:

  • Daytime Running Lights (DRL): The white LED light bar illuminates automatically when the vehicle is running, enhancing daytime visibility.
  • Demon Eyes: The red 'demon eyes' within the projector lens light up when driving, providing a distinct visual accent. If this feature is not desired, the corresponding wire harness can be disconnected.
  • Sequential Turn Signals: The amber LEDs illuminate in a dynamic, sequential pattern when the turn signal is activated, providing clear indication to other drivers.
  • Dual Beam Lens: The projector lens provides both low and high beam functionality.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your VLAND LED Headlights, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Clean the headlight lenses regularly with a soft cloth and mild automotive soap. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that can damage the lens material.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect the wiring and connections for any signs of wear, corrosion, or damage. Ensure all bulbs (if applicable) are functioning correctly.
  • Environmental Protection: The headlights are designed to be waterproof (IP67), dust-proof, and shock-proof, providing durability in various weather conditions.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your VLAND LED Headlights, refer to the following common troubleshooting tips:

  • Lights Not Functioning: Check all electrical connections to ensure they are secure. Verify that the vehicle's fuses related to lighting are intact.
  • AFS Error on EVO X: An AFS (Adaptive Front-lighting System) error may appear on some EVO X models. The headlights will still function properly despite this notification.
  • Dim Turn Signals: Ensure proper wiring and connections. If the issue persists, consult a technician.
  • Demon Eyes Not Lighting Up: Check the wire harness for the demon eyes. If not desired, this harness can be intentionally cut.
