Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the optimal performance of your drawer slides. Ensure you have the necessary tools and follow these steps carefully.

Tools Required (Not Included):

  • Measuring Tape
  • Pencil
  • Drill with appropriate drill bit (for pilot holes)
  • Screwdriver (Phillips head recommended)
  • Level

Installation Steps:

  1. Separate the Slides: Gently pull the inner slide member (the part that attaches to the drawer box) from the outer slide member (the part that attaches to the cabinet). There is usually a small lever or tab to release them.
  2. Mount Cabinet Members: Position the outer slide members inside the cabinet opening, ensuring they are level and parallel to each other. The front edge of the slide should be flush with the front edge of the cabinet frame (or set back as desired). Mark the screw hole locations with a pencil. Drill pilot holes if necessary, then secure the slides using the provided attachment screws.
  3. Mount Drawer Members: Attach the inner slide members to the sides of the drawer box. Ensure they are positioned correctly to align with the cabinet members. The front edge of the drawer member should be flush with the front of the drawer box. Mark and drill pilot holes, then secure with the provided screws.
  4. Insert Drawer: Align the drawer box (with inner slides attached) with the cabinet opening (with outer slides attached). Gently push the drawer into the cabinet until the slides engage. Push firmly until the soft-close mechanism fully retracts the drawer.
  5. Test Operation: Open and close the drawer several times to ensure smooth movement and proper soft-closing function. Adjust if necessary.

Operation

These Laurey drawer slides are designed for ease of use and durability.

Full Extension:

The full extension feature allows the drawer to open completely, providing full access to the entire contents of the drawer. This eliminates the need to reach into the back of the drawer.

Soft Closing:

The integrated soft-closing aero dampers ensure that the drawer closes gently and silently. When the drawer is pushed to within a few inches of being fully closed, the mechanism engages to slowly and quietly pull the drawer shut, preventing slamming.

Maintenance

Minimal maintenance is required to keep your Laurey drawer slides functioning optimally.

Cleaning:

  • Wipe the slides periodically with a clean, damp cloth to remove dust and debris.
  • Avoid using abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish or the ball bearing mechanism.

Lubrication:

  • Under normal use, the ball bearings are pre-lubricated and generally do not require additional lubrication.
  • If you notice any stiffness or squeaking over time, a light application of a silicone-based lubricant (avoid oil-based lubricants which can attract dust) to the ball bearings may be applied.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your drawer slides, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

Drawer is Sticking or Hard to Open/Close:

  • Check for Obstructions: Ensure no items inside the drawer or cabinet are blocking the slide's path.
  • Clean Slides: Dust or debris can accumulate on the slides. Clean them as described in the Maintenance section.
  • Lubrication: Apply a small amount of silicone lubricant if cleaning does not resolve the issue.
  • Alignment: Verify that the drawer and cabinet slides are properly aligned and parallel. Misalignment can cause friction.

Drawer Does Not Soft-Close Properly:

  • Weight Load: Ensure the drawer is not overloaded beyond the 100 lbs. weight capacity, as excessive weight can hinder the soft-close mechanism.
  • Full Engagement: Make sure the drawer is pushed with enough initial force for the soft-close mechanism to engage.
  • Obstructions: Check for any physical obstructions preventing the final few inches of closure.
