3. Setup
3.1 Assembly
- Attach the Guard: Securely fasten the debris guard to the trimmer head using the provided hardware. Ensure it is firmly in place to protect against flying debris.
- Install the Auxiliary Handle: Slide the auxiliary handle onto the shaft and adjust it to a comfortable working position. Tighten the clamp to secure the handle.
- Adjust Shaft Length: If your model features a telescoping shaft, adjust it to a length that allows for comfortable operation without excessive bending or stretching.
3.2 Battery Installation
- Ensure the battery is fully charged before first use. (Battery and charger sold separately).
- Align the battery with the battery port on the trimmer.

3.3 Line Installation/Replacement

- Remove the spool cap and old line.
- Insert the new trimmer line through the designated holes in the spool.
- Wind the line evenly onto the spool, ensuring it is taut.
- Feed the ends of the line through the eyelets in the trimmer head and replace the spool cap.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Starting and Stopping
- To Start: Press the safety lock-out button, then squeeze the variable speed trigger. The trimmer will start.
- To Stop: Release the variable speed trigger. The trimmer will stop.
4.2 Trimming Technique
Hold the trimmer firmly with both hands. Keep the trimmer head parallel to the ground. Use a sweeping motion, moving from side to side, to cut grass. Maintain a consistent speed for an even cut. The automatic line feed will advance the line as needed.
4.3 Edging Technique
To switch to edging mode, rotate the trimmer head 90 degrees. Use the guide wheel (if present) to maintain a consistent depth and straight line along sidewalks, driveways, and garden borders. Walk slowly and steadily for precise edges.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
After each use, ensure the trimmer is disconnected from the battery. Clean the trimmer head, guard, and air vents with a soft brush or cloth to remove grass clippings and debris. Do not use water or solvents on electrical components.
5.2 Line Maintenance
Regularly inspect the trimmer line for wear and tear. Replace the line spool when empty or if the line is damaged. Use only the recommended diameter and type of trimmer line for optimal performance.
5.3 Battery Care
Store the battery in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Do not store the battery in a discharged state for extended periods. Follow the charging instructions provided with your Greenworks 40V charger.
6. Troubleshooting
- Trimmer does not start: Ensure the battery is fully charged and properly inserted. Check the safety lock-out button and trigger.
- Line does not feed automatically: Check if the line is tangled or too short. Replace the spool if necessary. Ensure the line is correctly installed.
- Reduced cutting performance: The trimmer line may be worn or the battery charge may be low. Replace the line or recharge the battery.
- Excessive vibration: Check for damaged or improperly installed trimmer line. Ensure all components are securely fastened.
