  • HDMI IN: Connects to the HDMI source device (e.g., Blu-ray player, game console, PC).
  • HDMI OUT 1-4: Connects to HDMI displays (e.g., TV, monitor, projector).
  • DC 5V: Power input for the included power adapter.

5. Setup and Installation

  1. Power Off Devices: Ensure all HDMI source devices and displays are powered off before making connections.
  2. Connect HDMI Source: Connect an HDMI cable from your source device (e.g., media player, game console) to the HDMI IN port on the splitter.
  3. Connect HDMI Displays: Connect HDMI cables from the HDMI OUT 1-4 ports on the splitter to your respective HDMI displays.
  4. Set EDID: Before powering on, set the EDID switch according to your requirements:
    • For standard 1080p 2ch audio output, set the switch to STD.
    • To copy the EDID from the display connected to Output 1, set the switch to TV. This ensures the splitter communicates the optimal resolution and audio format supported by your primary display to the source.
  5. Connect Power: Connect the included 5V DC power adapter to the DC 5V port on the splitter, then plug the adapter into a suitable power outlet. The POWER LED on the front panel will illuminate.
  6. Power On Devices: Power on your HDMI displays, then power on your HDMI source device. The IN and OUT LEDs should illuminate, indicating active connections.

The splitter will automatically detect the input signal and distribute it to all connected displays.

6. Operating Instructions

Once connected and powered on, the Lindy 4 Port HDMI 2.0 18G Splitter operates automatically. The input signal will be duplicated and sent to all four connected displays.

6.1 EDID Management

The EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) switch allows you to control how the splitter communicates with the source device regarding supported resolutions and audio formats. This is crucial for ensuring compatibility and optimal display quality.

  • STD Mode: Provides a standard 1080p resolution with 2-channel audio. This setting is useful if you encounter compatibility issues with specific displays or sources, or if you require a consistent output resolution across all displays.
  • TV Mode: The splitter reads the EDID information from the display connected to HDMI OUT 1 and relays it to the source device. This allows the source to output the highest common resolution and audio format supported by your primary display. If the primary display is disconnected or powered off, the splitter may revert to a default EDID or use the EDID of the next active display.

It is recommended to adjust the EDID switch while the source and displays are connected but before the source outputs video, or to power cycle the source after changing the EDID setting for the changes to take effect.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Disconnect the power adapter before cleaning. Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to wipe the exterior of the device. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
  • Storage: If storing the device for an extended period, disconnect all cables and store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the device has adequate ventilation and that its vents are not blocked.
