3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Connecting the USB Receiver

The WeChip W1 operates on a 2.4GHz wireless connection. To begin using the device, simply plug the provided USB receiver into an available USB port on your Android TV Box, PC, Smart TV, Projector, HTPC, or All-in-one PC/TV. The device is plug-and-play, meaning it should be recognized automatically by most compatible systems without requiring additional driver installation.

3.2 Infrared (IR) Learning Function

The WeChip W1 remote supports infrared learning, allowing you to program its power button to control your TV or other IR-controlled devices. This feature helps consolidate your remotes.

Video 1: How to do the infrared teaching on the WeChip W1 remote control. This video demonstrates the steps for programming the WeChip W1 remote's power button using an existing TV remote's infrared signal.

Follow these steps to program the IR learning function:

  1. Press and hold the "Power" key and the "OK" key on the WeChip W1 simultaneously. Release both buttons when the blue light on the WeChip W1 remains steadily on.
  2. Align the infrared emitter of your original remote control with the infrared receiver of the WeChip W1 (head-to-head, about 1-3 cm apart). Ensure they are on a horizontal line.
  3. On the WeChip W1, click the "Power" button. The blue light will begin flashing, indicating it is ready to learn.
  4. On your original remote control, press the button you wish to learn (e.g., the Power button). The blue light on the WeChip W1 will flash rapidly and then stay on, indicating successful learning.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for any other buttons you wish to program (though typically only the power button is IR learned).
  6. After learning all desired buttons, click the "Return" button (back arrow) on the WeChip W1 to save your settings. The blue light will turn off.

Once programmed, you can use the WeChip W1's power button to control your TV's power.

The WeChip W1 features a 4-axis gyration motion system, allowing it to function as an air mouse. Simply move the remote in the air, and the cursor on your screen will follow your movements. This converts your space movement into an accurate displacement on the screen.

  • IR learning failed: Re-attempt the IR learning process (refer to Section 3.2). Ensure the original remote's battery is not low and that the remotes are properly aligned during the learning process.
