1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of your BLACK+DECKER 30-Pint Portable Dehumidifier, model BDT30MTB. This appliance is designed to reduce humidity in your home, covering areas up to 3000 sq. ft., making it suitable for basements and medium to large spaces. Please read all instructions carefully before use.

2. Product Overview

The BLACK+DECKER BDT30MTB dehumidifier is engineered for high efficiency and user convenience. It features a portable design with casters for easy movement and offers flexible water removal options.

3. Setup & Placement

Before operating the dehumidifier, ensure it is placed on a level surface. Allow the unit to stand upright for at least 24 hours before plugging it in if it has been stored on its side.

Placement:

• Place the dehumidifier in a location where the humidity is highest.
• Ensure there is at least 8 inches of air space on all sides of the unit for proper air circulation.
• Avoid placing the unit near heat sources or in direct sunlight.
• The unit is equipped with casters for easy mobility.

Power Connection:

Plug the 3-prong, Type B power cord into a grounded 115V~/60Hz electrical outlet. Do not use an extension cord.

4. Operation

The dehumidifier features a top-mounted electronic control panel for easy operation.

Control Panel Functions:

• Power Button: Turns the unit on or off.
• Adjustable Humidistat: Use the up/down arrows to set your desired humidity level (35% to 80%). The unit will automatically maintain this level.
• Fan Speed: Select between Low and High fan speeds.
• Timer: Set a timer for automatic shut-off.
• Auto Restart: The unit will automatically restart with previous settings after a power outage.
• Auto Defrost: Automatically defrosts if frost builds up on the evaporator coils.

5. Water Removal Options

Your dehumidifier offers two methods for water removal: manual bucket emptying or continuous drainage.

Manual Bucket Emptying:

• The unit features a detachable 8-pint water bucket.
• When the bucket is full, an indicator light will illuminate, and an audible alert will sound. The unit will automatically shut off to prevent overflow.
• Carefully remove the bucket, empty the collected water, and replace the bucket securely. The unit will resume operation.

Continuous Gravity Feed Drain:

• For continuous operation without needing to empty the bucket, attach the included 3.28 ft. drain hose to the continuous drain port on the back of the unit.
• Ensure the hose is sloped downwards to allow water to drain by gravity into a suitable floor drain or sink.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your dehumidifier.

Air Filter Cleaning:

• The dehumidifier is equipped with a washable, mesh air filter.
• A filter indicator light will remind you when it's time to clean the filter.
• To clean, remove the filter from the unit. Wash it with warm, soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and allow it to air dry completely before reinserting.
