- Do not immerse the blender base in water or other liquids.

Setup
Unpacking and Initial Cleaning:
- Carefully remove all parts from the packaging.
- Wash the blender jar, lid, and removable lid cap in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
- Wipe the blender base with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the base in water.
Assembly:
- Place the blender base on a clean, dry, and level surface.
- Ensure the variable speed dial is set to '0' (Off) and the blender is unplugged.
- Place the blender jar onto the base, ensuring it is seated securely.
- Add your ingredients to the blender jar.
- Securely place the lid onto the blender jar. Ensure the lid cap is also in place.
Operating Instructions
The KitchenAid K400 blender offers versatile control for various blending tasks.

Using the Variable Speed Dial:
- Plug the blender into a grounded electrical outlet.
- Turn the variable speed dial to your desired speed setting (1-5). The Soft Start® feature will gradually increase to the selected speed.
- Blend until desired consistency is achieved.
- Turn the dial back to '0' to stop the blender.
Using Preset Programs:
The blender features 3 intelligent preset programs for common blending tasks:
- Ice Crush: Ideal for crushing ice cubes for beverages.
- Icy Drink: Perfect for frozen cocktails or slushies.
- Smoothie: Optimized for creating smooth and creamy fruit or vegetable smoothies.
- Select the desired preset program icon on the control panel.
- Press the Start/Stop button to begin the program. The blender will automatically adjust speed and duration.
- The blender will stop automatically once the program is complete.
Using the Pulse Function:
The Pulse function provides short bursts of power for chopping, mixing, or controlled blending.
- Turn the variable speed dial to 'P' (Pulse).
- Press and hold the Start/Stop button for short bursts. Release to stop.

Maintenance and Cleaning
Self-Clean Cycle:
For quick and easy cleaning after blending, use the self-clean cycle:
- After use, rinse the blender jar.
- Fill the jar with 1 liter (4 cups) of warm water and add 1-2 drops of dish soap.
- Secure the lid and lid cap.
- Select the 'Self-Clean' icon on the control panel.
- Press the Start/Stop button. The blender will run a cleaning cycle and stop automatically.
- Empty the jar and rinse thoroughly with clean water.
Manual Cleaning:
- Blender Jar and Lid: These parts are dishwasher-safe (top rack only). For hand washing, use warm, soapy water and a non-abrasive sponge. Be cautious around the sharp blades.
- Blender Base: Wipe the base with a damp cloth. Do not immerse in water.
- Ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembling or storing.
Troubleshooting
If your KitchenAid K400 blender encounters an issue, refer to the following common solutions:
