Introduction

The VTech VM901 Wi-Fi Remote Access Video Baby Monitor with 1080p Full HD Pan & Tilt Camera allows you to monitor your child from virtually anywhere, whether at home or remotely via your smart device. This system features a state-of-the-art FHD 1080p CMOS visual sensor and an upgraded 720p display on the parent unit, providing clear, true-color, wide-angle images during the day and high-definition footage at night.

The monitor system is designed for ease of use, offering local monitoring out-of-the-box. It can also be configured for remote access on iOS or Android devices using the free MyVTech Baby 1080p app.

Setup

1. Initial Power-Up

  1. Connect one AC adapter to the camera unit and plug it into a power outlet.
  2. Connect the second AC adapter to the parent unit and plug it into a power outlet.
  3. The parent unit and camera are pre-paired for direct mode monitoring out-of-the-box.

2. Wall Mounting the Camera (Optional)

The camera can be placed on a flat surface or mounted to a wall for optimal viewing. Use the provided wall-mount bracket, screws, and wall anchors for secure installation.

3. Setting up Remote Access (Router Mode)

To access the monitor remotely via your smartphone or tablet, you need to set up Router Mode:

  1. Download the free MyVTech Baby 1080p app from your device's app store (iOS or Android).
  2. Follow the in-app instructions to connect the camera to your home Wi-Fi network.
  3. Once connected, you can view live video, control camera functions, and receive alerts on your mobile device.

Operating Instructions

1. Parent Unit Display

The parent unit features a 5-inch 720p HD IPS display, providing a clear view of your baby. The display offers true-color images during the day and switches to HD night vision in low light.

2. Pan, Tilt, and Zoom

The camera offers full remote control for pan, tilt, and zoom functions. You can adjust the camera's view from the parent unit or through the MyVTech Baby 1080p app.

  • Pan: Up to 270 degrees for a 360-degree panoramic view.
  • Tilt: Up to 152 degrees up and down.
  • Zoom: Up to 4x local zoom and 10x digital zoom.

3. Two-Way Talk

Press and hold the Talk button on the parent unit or use the talk feature in the mobile app to speak to your baby through the camera's speaker.

4. Soothing Sounds and Lullabies

The camera unit can play 5 calming melodies and 4 ambient sounds (including white noise and a trickling stream) to help soothe your baby. These can be controlled from the parent unit or the mobile app.

5. Night Vision

The camera automatically activates infrared night vision in low-light conditions, providing clear black-and-white video. The COMS image sensor with professional IR-Cut auto filter ensures enhanced night vision quality.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the surfaces of the parent unit and camera. Do not use cleaning sprays or liquid cleaners.
  • Battery Care: The parent unit contains a rechargeable battery. For optimal battery life, avoid extreme temperatures and fully charge the unit before first use.
  • Storage: If storing the unit for an extended period, ensure it is fully charged and stored in a cool, dry place.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your VTech VM901 monitor, try the following steps:

  • No Picture/Sound: Ensure both the camera and parent unit are powered on and connected to their respective AC adapters. Check that the camera is within range of the parent unit or your Wi-Fi router.
  • Poor Picture Quality: Adjust the camera's position. Ensure there are no obstructions between the camera and the parent unit. If using Wi-Fi, check your network signal strength.
  • Wi-Fi Connection Issues: Verify your Wi-Fi password. Ensure the camera is within range of your Wi-Fi router. Restart your router, camera, and parent unit.
  • Parent Unit Battery Life: Battery life can decrease over time. Ensure the parent unit is fully charged before use. Keep it plugged in when not in portable use.
