3. Setup

4. Operating Instructions

The EKM 500 offers various grinding options to suit your coffee preparation method.

4.1 Filling Coffee Beans:

Open the lid of the bean hopper and pour fresh, roasted coffee beans into the container. Close the lid securely to preserve aroma.

4.2 Selecting Grind Level:

The grinder features 39 adjustable grind settings. Turn the bean hopper to select the desired fineness. Lower numbers indicate finer grinds, higher numbers indicate coarser grinds.

  • Portion-Controlled Grinding: Dose coffee for up to 12 portions. Select this mode and adjust the number of portions.
  • Time-Controlled Grinding: Program grinding duration up to 60 seconds. Select this mode and set the desired time.
  • Manual Grinding: For direct grinding into a portafilter. Place the portafilter on the support and press the manual grind button.

5. Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your coffee grinder.

Daily Cleaning:

  • Unplug the appliance before cleaning.
  • Remove the ground coffee container and empty any residual coffee grounds. Wash with warm soapy water, rinse, and dry.
  • Wipe the exterior of the motor unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the unit in water.

Deep Cleaning (Burr Grinder):

  1. Ensure the appliance is unplugged.
  2. Remove the bean hopper by turning it counter-clockwise and lifting it off.
