Xilence LQ120 All-in-One Liquid CPU Cooler User Manual
Model: XC971
1. Introduction
This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Xilence LQ120 All-in-One Liquid CPU Cooler. The LQ120 is designed to provide efficient cooling for both AMD and Intel processors, ensuring stable performance for your system.
Please read this manual thoroughly before installation to ensure proper setup and to prevent any damage to your components.
2. Safety Information
Observe the following safety precautions to prevent injury or damage to the product and other components:
- Ensure your computer is powered off and unplugged from the wall outlet before beginning installation.
- Handle components with care to avoid electrostatic discharge (ESD). Consider using an anti-static wrist strap.
- Do not open the pump or radiator. The liquid coolant is sealed and not user-serviceable.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Avoid direct contact with the thermal paste. If contact occurs, wash thoroughly with soap and water.
3. Package Contents
Verify that all components listed below are present in your package:

- User Manual (this document)
4. Setup and Installation
4.1. Prepare Your System
- Power off your computer and unplug the power cable.
- Open your computer case to access the motherboard and CPU area.
- Remove any existing CPU cooler. Clean the CPU surface thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol to remove old thermal paste.
4.2. Install the Fan to the Radiator

- Identify the airflow direction of the 120mm fan (usually indicated by arrows on the fan frame).
- Attach the fan to the radiator using the provided long screws. Ensure the fan is oriented to push or pull air through the radiator according to your case's airflow design.

Mount the radiator and fan assembly to an available 120mm fan mount in your computer case. Common locations include the rear exhaust, top, or front intake.
- Secure the radiator to the case using the appropriate screws.
4.4. Install the CPU Block/Pump

For Intel Sockets (LGA 1700/2066/2011/1151/1150/1155/1156/1200):
- Attach the correct Intel mounting bracket to the pump unit.
- Install the Intel backplate behind your motherboard, aligning the holes with the CPU socket.
- Apply a thin, even layer of thermal paste to the center of your CPU if it's not pre-applied on the cold plate.
- Carefully place the pump unit onto the CPU, aligning the mounting holes with the backplate standoffs.
- Secure the pump unit with the provided thumb screws, tightening them in a diagonal pattern until snug. Do not overtighten.
For AMD Sockets (AM5/AM4):
- Remove the plastic retention clips from the stock AMD backplate (keep the stock backplate).
- Attach the correct AMD mounting bracket to the pump unit.
- Apply a thin, even layer of thermal paste to the center of your CPU if it's not pre-applied on the cold plate.
- Carefully place the pump unit onto the CPU, aligning the mounting holes with the stock AMD backplate.
- Secure the pump unit with the provided thumb screws, tightening them in a diagonal pattern until snug. Do not overtighten.
4.5. Connect Cables
- Connect the 4-pin PWM fan cable to an available CPU_FAN or SYS_FAN header on your motherboard.
- Connect the pump power cable (usually a 3-pin or SATA power connector) to an appropriate header on your motherboard (e.g., AIO_PUMP, PUMP_FAN, or a standard SYS_FAN header configured for full speed). Refer to your motherboard manual for specific header locations and settings.
5. Operating Instructions
Once installed, the Xilence LQ120 operates automatically. The PWM fan will adjust its speed based on CPU temperature, and the pump will run continuously to circulate coolant.
- Initial Boot: After installation, power on your system. Monitor CPU temperatures using monitoring software (e.g., HWMonitor, Core Temp) to ensure proper cooling.
- BIOS/UEFI Settings: Ensure the CPU_FAN header is set to PWM mode and the pump header (if applicable) is set to run at full speed or a consistent voltage to ensure optimal pump performance.
6. Maintenance
The Xilence LQ120 is a closed-loop system and requires minimal maintenance.
- Dust Removal: Periodically clean dust from the radiator fins and fan blades using compressed air. This helps maintain optimal airflow and cooling performance.
- Tubing Inspection: Occasionally inspect the tubing for any signs of kinks, leaks, or damage.
- No Refilling Required: Do not attempt to open or refill the cooler. It is a sealed unit.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| High CPU Temperatures | Incorrect installation of CPU block; Insufficient thermal paste; Fan not spinning; Pump not running; Radiator clogged with dust. | Re-seat CPU block, ensuring even pressure; Re-apply thermal paste; Check fan and pump connections; Clean radiator fins. |
| Fan Not Spinning | Fan cable disconnected; Incorrect fan header connection; Fan failure. | Ensure fan cable is securely connected to CPU_FAN or SYS_FAN header; Try a different fan header; Replace fan if faulty. |
| Pump Not Running (No noise/flow) | Pump power cable disconnected; Incorrect pump header connection; Pump failure. | Ensure pump power cable is securely connected; Connect to a dedicated AIO_PUMP or PUMP_FAN header, or a SYS_FAN header set to full speed; Contact support if pump is faulty. |
| Unusual Noise | Air bubbles in the loop (initial startup); Fan rubbing against cables; Pump noise. | Tilt case gently to help move air bubbles (may subside over time); Re-route cables away from fan blades; Ensure pump is securely mounted. |
