Introduction
Thank you for choosing the Wallmaster Bike Ceiling Lift Hoist. This system is designed to provide an efficient and space-saving solution for storing your bicycle in garages, basements, or utility rooms. Constructed from durable steel and featuring a reliable pulley mechanism, it allows for easy lifting and lowering of bicycles, keeping them safely suspended and out of the way. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use to ensure proper operation and safety.
Safety Information
- Weight Capacity: Do not exceed the maximum weight capacity of 50 pounds (22.6 kg). Overloading can lead to equipment failure and injury.
- Installation: Ensure the hoist is securely mounted to a sturdy ceiling joist or a reinforced ceiling structure. Improper installation can result in the hoist detaching and causing damage or injury.
- Rope Inspection: Regularly inspect the rope for any signs of wear, fraying, or damage. Replace the rope immediately if any damage is observed.
- Hook Security: Always ensure the bicycle hooks are properly engaged with the bicycle frame or handlebars/seat before lifting.
- Clearance: Maintain a clear area around the bicycle during lifting and lowering to prevent accidental contact.
- Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the hoist during operation.
Package Contents
Verify that all components are present before beginning installation:
- 2 x Pulley Brackets (one with locking mechanism)
- 2 x Bicycle Hooks with rubber coating
- 1 x Long Rope
- 1 x Wall Cleat (for securing excess rope)
- Mounting Hardware (4 x Metal Screws)

Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the safe and effective operation of your bike hoist. Ensure you have the necessary tools (drill, stud finder, screwdriver, measuring tape) and follow these steps:
- Locate Ceiling Joists: Use a stud finder to locate two parallel ceiling joists. The distance between the joists should accommodate the length of your bicycle. Mark the center of each joist where the pulley brackets will be mounted.
- Mount Pulley Brackets: Position the pulley bracket with the locking mechanism at the end where you intend to operate the hoist. The other pulley bracket should be mounted towards the front of the bicycle. Use the provided metal screws to securely fasten both brackets to the marked ceiling joists. Ensure they are firmly attached.
- Thread the Rope:
- Feed the rope through the pulley on the hook that will support the rear of the bike.
- Thread the rope up through the pulley on the ceiling bracket closest to the rear of the bike.
- Bring the rope across to the other ceiling bracket and thread it through the pulley.
- Feed the rope down through the pulley on the hook that will support the front of the bike.
- Finally, thread the rope back up through the locking mechanism on the first ceiling bracket.

Figure 2: Detail of the pulley mechanism and rope threading. - Install Wall Cleat: Mount the wall cleat at a convenient height on a wall near the operating end of the hoist. This will be used to secure the excess rope.
Operating Instructions
Follow these steps to safely lift and lower your bicycle:
- Lower the Hooks: Gently pull the rope to release the locking mechanism and allow the hooks to descend to a height where you can easily attach your bicycle.
- Attach Bicycle: Carefully place the front hook under the handlebars and the rear hook under the seat. Ensure the rubber-coated hooks are securely gripping the bike to prevent scratching or slipping.
- Lift the Bicycle: Pull the rope to lift the bicycle. The pulley system is designed to make lifting easy. As you pull, the locking mechanism will automatically engage to hold the bike in place when you stop pulling.
- Secure the Rope: Once the bicycle is at the desired height, wrap the excess rope around the wall cleat to prevent accidental lowering.
- Lower the Bicycle: To lower the bicycle, unwrap the rope from the wall cleat. Gently pull the rope to disengage the locking mechanism, then slowly release the rope to allow the bicycle to descend.

Maintenance
- Regular Inspection: Periodically check all mounting hardware, ropes, and pulleys for any signs of wear, corrosion, or damage.
- Lubrication: Apply a small amount of lubricant to the pulley wheels if they begin to squeak or operate roughly.
- Cleaning: Wipe down the metal components with a damp cloth to remove dust and grime.
- Rope Replacement: If the rope shows any signs of fraying or weakening, replace it immediately with a rope of similar strength and diameter.
Troubleshooting
- Bike not lifting smoothly: Check for any obstructions in the pulley system or if the rope is tangled. Ensure the rope is correctly threaded through all pulleys.
- Hooks slipping: Ensure the rubber coating on the hooks is intact and clean. Verify that the hooks are properly positioned on the bicycle frame/handlebars/seat.
- Locking mechanism not engaging: Check if the rope is properly seated in the locking mechanism. Ensure there is enough tension for it to engage.
