2. Setup

2.1. Unboxing and Initial Inspection

Carefully open the product packaging and ensure all components are present. The standard package includes the Surfans F20 player, a USB charging/data cable, a pre-installed 64GB micro SD card, and this user manual.

2.2. Charging the Device

Before first use, fully charge the Surfans F20. Connect the provided USB cable to the micro USB port on the player and the other end to a USB power adapter (not included) or a computer's USB port. The battery indicator on the screen will show charging status.

2.3. Inserting/Managing Storage

The F20 player comes with a 64GB micro SD card already inserted. You can expand the storage up to 256GB using a larger micro SD card (up to 128GB) or via USB OTG (On-The-Go) with another 128GB storage device (OTG cable not included).

2.4. Powering On/Off and Language Selection

To power on the device, press and hold the power button located on the top of the player for a few seconds until the screen lights up. To power off, press and hold the same button until the device shuts down.

Upon the first power-on, you will be prompted to select your preferred language. Use the scroll wheel to navigate and the center button to confirm your selection.

3. Operating the Device

3.1. Basic Navigation

The Surfans F20 features a distinctive ALPS scroll control wheel for fluent operation. Use the scroll wheel to navigate through menus and lists. The center button acts as a selection/play/pause button. Additional buttons on the side and front provide quick access to volume, track control, and back functions.

3.2. Music Playback

To play music, navigate to the 'Explorer' or 'Category' option on the main menu. Select your desired music files from the micro SD card. The player supports various lossless formats including FLAC, WAV, WMA, M4A, MP3, MP2, AAC, APE, ALAC, OGG, AIFF, DFF, Native DSD64 (2.8MHz), and DSD 128 (5.6 MHz).

3.3. Connecting via Bluetooth

The F20 features bi-directional Bluetooth V5.2 with APT-X protocol. This allows the player to broadcast audio to Bluetooth-enabled devices like headphones or speakers, and also function as a Bluetooth receiver for audio input.

  1. To connect to a Bluetooth device: Navigate to 'Bluetooth Settings' in the main menu.
  2. Enable Bluetooth and search for available devices.
  3. Select your desired device from the list to pair.
