4. Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for optimal performance. It is recommended that installation be performed by a qualified professional if you are unfamiliar with vehicle electrical systems.

4.1 Mounting the Camera

  1. Choose Location: Select a suitable mounting location at the rear of your vehicle, typically above the license plate or near the trunk handle. Ensure the camera has a clear, unobstructed view. If using as a front camera, choose a suitable front mounting point.
  2. Secure Camera: Use the provided 3M adhesive strip or mounting screws to securely attach the camera in the chosen location. Ensure the camera is oriented correctly for the desired viewing angle.

4.2 Wiring Connections

The XCADJ1 camera uses a 6-pin connector for its main harness, which then converts to an RCA video output and power wires.

  1. Connect Camera Harness: Connect the camera's integrated 6-pin harness to the 19-foot extended connection cable. This cable is designed to run from the camera to the front of the vehicle where your display unit is located.
  2. Power Connection:
    • For Rear Camera Use: Connect the red power wire from the camera's harness (or the extension cable, depending on your setup) to the vehicle's reverse light circuit (12V DC). This will power the camera when the vehicle is in reverse. Connect the black ground wire to a suitable chassis ground point.
    • For Front Camera Use or Constant Power: Connect the red power wire to a switched 12V accessory power source and the black ground wire to a chassis ground.
  3. Video Output: Connect the yellow RCA video output from the 19-foot extension cable to the video input of your compatible display monitor or head unit.
  4. Trigger Wire (Optional): If your display unit requires a trigger wire to automatically switch to the camera view when reversing, connect the small red wire often found alongside the RCA cable to the reverse light trigger input on your display unit.

4.3 Guideline Control

The camera features selectable parking guidelines. Consult the small loops on the camera's main wiring harness (or the extension cable, if applicable). Typically, cutting a specific loop will toggle the guidelines ON or OFF. Refer to the diagram provided with your specific wiring harness for exact instructions, as this can vary.

5. Operating Instructions

Once properly installed, operating the NVX XCADJ1 camera is straightforward.

  1. Automatic Activation (Rear Camera): If wired to the reverse light circuit, the camera will automatically power on and send a video signal to your display unit when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. Your display unit should then automatically switch to the camera view.
  2. Manual Activation (Front Camera or Constant Power): If wired to a switched accessory power source, you may need to manually select the video input on your display unit to view the camera feed.
  3. Using Guidelines: If the parking guidelines are enabled during installation, they will appear on the screen to assist with judging distance and vehicle trajectory.

6. Maintenance

The NVX XCADJ1 camera is designed for durability and requires minimal maintenance.

  • Cleaning the Lens: Periodically clean the camera lens with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt, dust, or water spots that may obstruct the view. Avoid abrasive cleaners or materials that could scratch the lens.
  • Inspect Wiring: Occasionally check the wiring connections for any signs of wear, corrosion, or damage. Ensure all connections remain secure.
  • Waterproof Rating: The IP68 rating ensures protection against water and dust ingress. However, avoid directing high-pressure water jets directly at the camera for extended periods.
